see the full web page with all 3 videos on cast aluminum here goo.gl/k8QAH0 and visit my online store here weldmongerstore.com/ This is sort of a part 2 video to the "tig welding cast aluminum" video where I welded a cast aluminum outboard motor jet pump.
there were quite a few questions that came in on that video so this video answers some of those questions with more video clips.

"when you can... You do When you can't... You teach" You are the exception to this rule. I certified as a pipe welder when I was 21...then I went a different direction, welding has served me well through out my career which ended up as a heavy equipment contractor. Your videos probably do more for welding and welders than can really be quantified! You really are a gem in the you tube world. Thank you for your videos. Very well done.

Hey Jody, your back and forth nudging method really helped me out today. I have been doing repairs on some big aluminum sculptures and that includes welding into some angle grinder cut bevels in all positions. Aluminum doesn't like to flow into those sharp Vs but your trick really helped me get the puddle to flow in. THANKS!

Again Jody many thanks for running this YT channel. I'm following from France, and learnt a lot from you. Take care and keep your sense of humor ! (sometimes it's help to see somebody humble throwing some joke on a serious topic) Ben from France (about the die check, i used a ton of these stuff on heavy diesel engine, be careful while using penetrant, it go through a latex glove, so my advice it's to always use a nitril glove or chemical glove.)

Yeah boyee! But seriously, Google has made so many changes to youtube that changing your user name maybe difficult, nearly impossible, or have not-so-immediate consequences. It might be easier to just start a new youtube account for the things you view and where you want to be taken seriously or as a professional.

That food coloring with kerosene and then some foot powder as a developer trick is actually a throw back to the early days of NDT used by railroad manufacturing. They would soak the wheels and axles and whatever other castings they needed in dyed kerosene and develop the cracks with chalk powder. This method allowed quite a few defects to make their way into service.
@donaldlocker7394
@donaldlocker7394 7 жыл бұрын
For those who are curious, "wrought" is from the past participle of the word "worked" (from something like 800 years ago!) As Jody explained, it means the metal was worked in some way (rolled, forged, or formed) after initial casting. Some compositions are fine as-cast, others have to be worked to achieve their characteristics.

Here in norway it's not very normal to use footpedals. We use msotly tig torches with built in buttons and with that you can adjust amparage while welding by haveing a down sloap and an up sloap and push the button to apply more amparage and release for it to lower.

hey, I have a question for you I'm welding up an aluminum cast head exhaust port for build up then have it port and polished. all we have at our shop is 6061 filler rod and 2% thoriated as or tungsten of choice for aluminum. should I invest in 4943 filler rod and a 2% lanthaneted tungsten? I'd gladly send an email with a picture of what I'm talking about. thanks.

Hey Jody thanks for answering my question, pronunciation of my last name was spot on, it is a Danish name. I am a Stainless steel sheet metal worker, from Denmark, we you a welding technique that we call ArgonArk or tandem Tig welding, where you are to guys both with at TIG Torche and weld from both sides, one with filler rod and one with out. how it works is, that the guy on the bagside is shields and pulls the rod through the material, is that a method, that is used in the USA, i have no idea, have never seen a welding video with it. Thanks Søren Breinbjerg

Question about the App. I'm an android user so I won't know the answer until the app is out. If I'm standing in front of a some metal I want to weld and I want to search for the right settings for it that other people have used, can that be done? For example if I have 0.5 inch 8620 alloy steel lap joint, can I search that and then get a bunch of pictures and settings other people have posted for that situation? That would be pretty sweet.
