You make this look easy. Damn nice flux core welds

It looks like a lot of material is dumped in the weld. Could you have done it with a lower wire output speed or move the gun faster along the piece? I am sure the weld is very strong. Good job though.

Very very cool. What would be the issue with a lower power welder? Less penetration? I have the smaller parkside solder PFDS 120 is the name.

You have to make sure that you buy the capable electrode wire for your machine. For instance I have a Century FC (flux core) 90 machine, I can't switch between electrode positive to electrode negative like say a Lincoln Power MIG140 machine can. I'm stuck with DCEN (electrode negative) polarity , so if I purchase a fluxcore gasless electrode stainless steel wire that is for a machines setup in DCEP (electrode positive) polarity position, then my welds are gonna struggle and I'm basically using the wrong electrode wire application for my DCEN setup only machine. This doesn't mean I can't weld with gasless fluxcore stainless steel wire, I just have to make sure when I purchase my spool it specifically details from the manufacturer that this electrode wire can run through a DCEN polarity setup machine. Now if you can easily switch your machines polarity then you just have to decide if your work piece will benefit better or worse by running your machine either in DCEP OR DCEN polarity. In my case I'm just stuck with one option.

Can you find a flux core stainless wire that uses DCEP? If so, please share the product info!

@@orcoastgreenman it doesn't work that way some machines already have the polarity hardwired the correct direction some are easily reversible

@@tonydiesel3444 - Yes, that is why I asked. The OP seemed to imply that there was a stainless flux core wire that works on DCEN. If there was one, it would be a boon for people who have the welders that you can’t switch polarity on. I just got a 6 process 250A “reboot” brand MiG/flux/stick combo, that I can add a tig torch or AL spool gun to, for under $200. Picked up a 65A plasma cutter w/pilot arc at the same time, that is currently priced at $135 with $20 off coupon on Amazon. It is insane how cheap this hardware has become, and much of it seems to work well, as long as you don’t get a “bum unit”

@@orcoastgreenman mine is already the correct polarity works pretty good with stainless wire although very tricky to learn I definitely learning curve

You are welding with the nozzle used for gas welding solid wire. Much easier using the right fitting.
