Great review, as always. I have these boots, and did not experience any of the issues you related. Since I live in Houston, they are really more of a winter boot for me, so I'm not wearing them right now but they sure came in handy during our freeze in February!

These new extended tests are quite interesting. The boots get a good working out and the receivers benefit from it as do you. I can see how that pair of boots could definitely have some fit issues. I just bought a pair and followed the sizing recommendations. Its a really well luxury feeling boot, it feels thick durable and very solid and it just looks great on me i get alot of compliments but i agree it feels like my toes are being squeezed with the removable insole. Im 3 days into wearing them im hoping within a week or two it gets more comfortable

My experience with the Banderas was very similar to reviewers. Luxurious is a great way to describe to feeling of stepping into these boots. Just feels seriously smooth and well made. Sturdy heavy boot. And yup, they fit goofy. Just like he said; insole out and it’s way to big. Stock insole in; the toe box is fine but the heel slips too much and hasn’t changed with break in (I’ve had mine for a year or so). Tried a larger insole but it just crowded out the toe box. Then I tried heavy socks with stock insoles and 👍. Luckily it’s not hot here.

I have been wearing western boots on and off spanning from grade school until retirement. I have worn custom made boots, Double H, Luchese and several more brands. I gave the Tecovas a try, but proper sizing was an issue even with free returns. The issue was amplified because of in stock sizes, which lead to ordering a different boot model. I finally ended up taking a three hour one way trip to a Tecovas store for fitting. Out of stock issues lead me to try the Bandera. I figured they would break in nicely after wearing them for three-four weeks. The Bandera has yet to break in comfortably. I am disappointed after hearing all the hype over the Tecovas boots. They do run large, with a large heel cup.

This is my fourth Tecovas cowboy boot. My normal size is 15B, so I buy 14D and get a good fit. My Bandera boots fit great once I get them on. They are the hardest boot I own to put on and take off. The instep is too small for my big feet (with/without the removable insert). Have been wearing them for three plus months already. Have oiled them to soften the leather and had the instep stretched, this has helped a lot but still tight when putting on and off. Boot hooks and boot jacks help a lot to put on and take off. Not sure if it is the Bovine leather, as it is thicker and not as soft as Calfs Leather or Ostrich boots I have, with no problems. All and all a good fit and strong work boot. They are heavy but all my boots are because of my size 15 feet (I am used to steel toe, steel shanks, zippers and heavy Vibram rubber soles). I hope Tecovas would start making B width boots for those of us with narrow feet. I always check out your site for good information. Thanks for the great reviews. New Note: I have had my boots stretched for the second time. Still too tight to put on and take off. Picked them up and the cobbler said the only thing left was to have zippers installed. So will pick up next week. New Note #2: The new zippers make all the difference in putting on and taking off my Banderas. still great fit when zipped up!

I have these - same color - bought them the first week of December. We own a horse farm and these are terrific! I commented on your other video - about the Prescots (which I also have). This boot is indeed heavy, but it performs GREAT around our property. I just hose them off when I am through. I now have 5 pairs of Tecovas - 3 Cartwrights (which I love) an wear them everywhere (including riding horses) - the Prescots (nice) and these Banderas. I find Tecovas to be a GREAT value boot.

They are used for ranch work and riding as well as everyday casual--good boot for any occasion. I use Black Rock Leather 'N' Rich leather conditioner (I don't use polish) on all of my boots for years.

I got a pair of them recently and other than the weight,I haven’t noticed anything out the ordinary,but I haven’t worn them much at all,really. My size is 11.5 EE,and these seemed to fit like my other Tecovas of that size. I probably won’t really use them very much until fall and winter,but I’m thinking they may work out well as hiking boots. Time will tell,but I’ve always had good luck with Tecova.

i have the same fit problems, i'm a 12 B also. what i do instead of messing around with padded insoles, i have different thicknesses of leather, i cut out a solid slab of leather the thickness i think i need, i slip it in and i feels like it was made that way. cause it has a uniform thickness. it fills the space better. ive even scived it down in the toe area when need be. try it .

I wear 9 1/2 D. I bought 9 1/2 D. They are tight width wise. I ditched the insoles. Still tight. I like them. Hoping this is just break in. Hopeful that they continue with working western boots.

Definitely a nice hefty looking work boot! I completely get what you mean by the fit, I bought a pair of boots one time that were too wide and then you throw an insole in there and the toes get cramped but the heel slips way too high! If they improved the fit it looks like it would be an all day comfortable boot!

I'm a little late on this one, but thought it was worth sharing my experience here. I bought the bandera in bison, but it was temporarily lost by fedex(shocked and appalled.) Tecovas were super helpful, and sent another pair out to me right away, but they accidentally sent the bovine version which arrived at the same time. I was able to try them both on in 11.5, and the bovine was a very awkward fit, while the bison fit like a glove. They have become my favorite boot for comfort, and I don't want to take them off. The bison leather is so soft and supple, yet breathable and durable, and fits like a second skin. The bovine were straight up unwearable in the same size, so there you are. I plan to get some more tecovas soon in hope they fit like these bison banderas.

@@splashmountain627 I used saphir renuvatuer(spelling?) at first to give them some deeper nourishment and water protection. That did make them just a very slight shade darker and richer in tone, which I really like. Now I use bicks no. 4 ever so often to maintain them. I also use some saphir Havana brown cream polish very lightly on the toe and heal occasionally to cover any scuffs (I use these hard, but still like to keep them nice), although I've found that most scuffs just rub away with a finger. If you want to put a cream polish on the rest of the boot for some reason, then know that saphir's coniac is a near perfect color match. One could just use the bick's 4 if you want to keep it simple and maintain the color more closely.

I just looked at these my friend and thought this is the perfect Boot Fi my needs with grip on the Sole. I’m a normal 11.5E and that’s what I was going to order but sounds like it would have been way to big and man I don’t like a lot of heel slipping lol. I may rethink this Bandera

I have owned these exact boots, the Bandera now for a little over a year. I really like the boots but for me the shaft of the Bandera appears to be a bit too narrow...at least for me. It's always very difficult for me to remove the boots once they're on...and the difficulty always starts as my foot enters the shaft of the boot during the removal process, regardless of the type of sock I am wearing. It is something that has never gotten any better for me so over time, I have stopped using them as much simply because the boots are a pain/hassle to remove.

Hi Jeremiah. I have a non related question here. I have a pair of Boulet boots model 1866 deerskin boots that I picked up at an antique mall. The sole looks like a snip toe but the toe of the boot isn't. It's more pointy. So would the boot actually be considered a snip toe or something else entirely ? Grat job helping out at the gardens But remember the boots are a half inch smaller that why they were a little tight and as for rubbing on back in my oppion that typical when breaking in boots I would push a piece of cardboard down there keep from rubbing till boot was broke in

@@JeremiahCraig any piece of cardboard 4 to 6 inches wide about a 12 inches long push down between rubbing point on boot and you ankle or leg for about a week till boot was broke in it's always worked for me and that's all I wear is boots also force a soft ball down in boot to stritch top of boot so it's not to tight just some tricks I have learned in 45 years wearing boots lol

I just ordered my 4th pair of Tecova’s. My latest buy are The Stockton in Umber Bovine. I bought these specifically for motorcycling. I wear a 9 1/2 D and the fit on every Tecova purchase has been spot on. Although I own two Harley’s and a GoldWing, I have never been a fan of the overpriced leather Harley boots, although I do own a pair of their high top tennis shoe style motorcycle boots which are really nice in the summer. I also change around and wear waterproof Bates and Dan Post boots for motorcycling as well.

Hey Mr. Craig! I'm from Ohio, and I have been into boot wearing and western wear for about 3 years now and as a graduation gift my parents are willing to buy me a good pair of boots. They budget they've given me is $400 and I've been looking at some Fenoglio Top Hand Boots from the Four Sixes Ranch shop ($315 w/ a cutter toe), and a pair of Tecovas The Prescott boots, either the bison or the shark leather for $350-$395. BUT I am very very open to suggestions and if you could either do a potential review of some Fenoglio boots or just give me suggestions of some nice walking boots with a typical western heel and a round/French toe that'd be great! I only have a pair of Thorogood work boots that ive only wear maybe once a month. Really wanting a cowboy boot but with so many companies and different styles im lost. If you could suggest 1 brand and style, what would it be? Would like to wear them for all occasions. Chisos might not be the best because of the leather sole. You could take them to a cobbler and have them out on a sole saver with some grip if you wanted but a rubber sole might be the best option for you to do all those things in. Double H might be a good bet. They have lots of great looking styles with rubber soles and as a bonus they are made in the US!

Width is proportional to the size of the boots so this D width isn't too wide for me. A 10.5D is about the same width as a 12B. It wouldn't work like you might expect. Width size is proportional to the length size. So a 10EE has a similar width as a 11.5D. If you need more toe room, it's always better to size up with the same width than to just go wider. I get a tightness in at my toes in almost all round toe D widths because companies don't make narrow sizes. My foot goes farther into the boot than what it's made for but it breaks in and ends up working fine. That happened with these Tecovas. They are good looking, made well, etc, but I have multiple issues with this boot. The insert is just stupid. Straight up dumb. Without it, my toes have plenty of room, but my foot bounces around. With it in, my toes can’t move. Put thinner insert in there, and it fixes those issues, but I still have the heel slip cause by heel sits higher then the counter. All of it is pretty disappointing, cause I hate having to find an insert for a boot I payed 250 for. I’m truly interested in seeing the foot of a person that this boot fit perfectly.

Yes I think it would hold up break them in before tho wear them for like a month id honestly go with the light brown bison boot they look more comfortable

I think the moral of the story is ,buy your correct size ! I too have a B width and have also cheated by buying a D width a half size shorter . Never have been happy with the results . Sure wish more boot companies would recognize that not everyone is a D or E . Come on Tecovis . Build some B widths . The boots look like they are a well built boot .

I get tired of cheating too and when I finally find a pair that actually fits I get super excited haha. Fingers crossed Tecovas does B widths soon

I couldn't never get motorcycle shift rub stain out of left foot .looks like an oil stain. Not comfortable and heavy.

Great review and honest. I love these boots and my other boots from tecovas. However, I can’t stand them from a company stand point. Really the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced on multiple occasions. I’d rather pay more for the quality from a box retailer so I wouldn’t have to deal with tecovas as a company ever again.

Two thumbs up on the Tecovas. The Tecova brand is so much better than the Ariat. Personally...I won't wear, nor can I stand the ever so popular Ariats. Nope...they are faddish...and frankly...ugly to me. The Bandera...is absolutely exquisite. That leather stacked heel and Vibram sole...are what a man needs in a work boot, something an Ariat cannot give you.
