I did the same thing. Completely forgot I ordered it, then got a FedEx notice that made me thing Eternia was coming until I got the Mattel email saying what it really was. Then they trolled us again with King Grayskull! 😅But all is good, I got my Eternia in its mini-fridge box Monday.

I picked it up because I'm a completist. Comparing the two releases of the Cartoon Collection Skeletor, this is the better version imo. Although, if they already went with glow in the dark plastic for the Vee Friend, it would have been nice if Mattel could have done the same for the Skeletor faces.

Even though I wanted to be a completionist with this line, I passed on this. Now I kind of wish I hadn’t. My son actually would have probably really liked this, we recently opened up the entire first wave of Origins, plus he also has the first MotU Little People set. I had no idea Skeletor’s alternate hands formed a heart! That’s amazing! Darn it…

Skilled Skeleton is so adorable! I personally would love to do a Stop Motion of that mini comic, which would turn out wonderful bc I can make a high pitched kiddie voice for Skilled Skeleton and my Skeletor Impression is awesome in my opinion! Idk someday I'll find this on the aftermarket (wish me luck lol) and bring that stop motion to life. Thanks for the review! and those moments when you do Skeletor it's great to hear his voice

I'm totally with you - the retail release absolutely should have had swappable faces. And honestly, I would have much preferred that than the Masks of Power. I don't dislike that the Cartoon Collection figures come with "that one thing from that one episode," but... when mine come in, those Masks will most likely just be one more thing for me to bag, tag, and store in my accessories storage bins.

Also, the amount of money Mattel left on the table to have had interchangeable skeletor faces for every single version of him released, is just nuts. Sometimes I think toy companies just don't totally line up on either the fun aspect or the collector aspect as much as they really could, with just a bit more effort.

I have to say that this kind of ‘look’ was to be expected in MotU one day or another, as we can see this stylistic approach, so prevalent nowadays, permeating the whole gamut of western popular culture… In my honest opinion it all came from influences which can be traced back to Japanese contemporary pop culture and media aesthetics (and I’ve been living here for 15 years now, I know more than most here about that). The caricatural styles, the goofiness, the big puppy eyes & huge head, the ‘it’s so cute’ look, the ‘heart’ mark with hands, the soft and happy vibes of Mario Bros & Pokemon…. All the things for me will never belong to MOTU. To each his own, and it’s all good I don’t mind people loving it, all the better for the long life of the franchises I love! but I can’t help to say the truth: I find it repulsive beyond words.

It’s expanded into collectibles that he likely in no way designed himself, because the original Vee Friends NFTs (which he drew himself) were some of the worst pieces of “art” you’d ever see.

When you buy crap like this you send a message to Mattel. And that message is "We will buy any crap you want to push on us. We would rather have THIS than a full Battle Ram or Two-Bad."
