I explained once 90s early 2000 European trucks had way more driver comfort than US trucks. I almost got shot for this comment. Don't get me wrong I like the looks of the US trucks. Still like to see a comparison with a 2023 US and 2023 European truck. US Paccar took over our Dutch DAF trucks years ago and put the DAF parts / engines into Peterbilt trucks.
@bzs1879 ай бұрын
@@Bus2000 Maybe you could find something in Australia or Mexico? That's the only two country I can think of that's has both. Plus, Us people doesn't like criticism that goes for the products made in their country, even if it's valid.

Well these long nose Pete’s and KW’s haven’t changed a terrible amount since the 80s, a few air bags along the way and updated engines but not too much especially interior wise. The trucks that have evolved like the Volvo VNL and Cascadia these long nose truckers don’t like them, won’t have anything to do with them, and call them plastic trucks as a term to put them down and heaven forbid the truck has a Auto transmission. So it’s really more them living in their “old school trucker” bubble than the tech not being here. That being said, my dad is an American truck mechanic and I have been to Sweden to both Volvo and Scania museums and nothing here comes close to a Scania build wise. I got in one of those and felt like I was getting in my Audi. The Euro and American Volvos are similar but different, different designs but you can tell the same company designed/built them.

May already been said but the clutch is air assisted so you need to start it and have around 7-8 bar pressure then it feels pretty much lika a car. And the gearbox is a Grs 900, it has 14 speed, its 3 gears in high and low range plus split gears on every gear, plus two crawler gears. All gears except crawler are synchronized. Crawler is almost never used unless you are stuck or gonna start whit 65 tons on soft ground. I really hope you can talk Bruce into using it whit a heavy trailer. It will be perfect for a lowboy trailer, you'll find the maneuverability very good, and also being able to rise the rear on the airbags from the cab as you drives will be a profit.

Grettings from Denmark. That Scania you looked at is a NG R590 XT 4x4. It has the 16.4 litre V8 with 590 bhp, but according to the sound it has about, if Scania has tuned the engine for you, about 735 bhp with a massive torque of 3550 nM, and the transmission is the G33CM1 with crawler gear. So you looked at some nice small heavy duty truck, but that is just a small one, get it in 8x8 configuration and 770 bhp, then we are talking real heavy duty trucks

The Scanias are very common here in the UK. Always liked their V8's, amazing sound compared to the usual EURO emissions rubbish. Heard gearboxes described as "cheese" but not exactly a problem for you guys that is it, Brax could rebuild it on a lunch break 😉

As an American, the one brand of truck I wish we had state side are these scania v8's. They sound so rowdy, and are designed like an audi on the inside, reminding you more of a luxury car than a truck. they'd have to bring back the cab over tho as the long nose scanias, while they can look cool are a little goofy as its the same cab with a long nose. But paccar still makes a k200 in australia and you have the daf brand under paccar. But without length restrictions on trucks and a cab over, no excuse to not have a giant sleeper with a little kitchen and bathroom and still have the same if not shorter wheelbase, and increase the quality of living for the over the road guys.

I was in my dads lorry around 1989, there were big in scania and Volvos, I was starting to drive around the yard and my first lorry I drove at 13 was a leyland Clydesdale, then Volvo fl6 which was a skip lorry, then a Volvo f10 which was a truck and trailer tipper which were loaded and I drove them out of the loading bay and lined it up in the yard, and Volvo 8 wheeled tipper again moved from the loading bay, basically the smaller skip lorries would dump there load then all the waste was loaded on the bigger trucks and then the waste went to a land fill. I had the best school holidays either with my dad or in the yard and I was allowed to jump in any truck with one of the brothers who were the owners. I Brax and he does the same as I did, what a way to spend your school holidays.
