Well, It wasn't the CPU

Got in the replacement AMD CPU to check to see if it was CPU that killed the DIMM channel... but sadly, on removal of the CPU it was pretty obvious the prior owner did not care for the motherboard. The socket had a few bits of random stuff and at least 1 bent pin. I removed some of the stuff I could get to, but messing with the pins is beyond my care to attempt... still did a cpu swap and test both with and without the 'bad' dimm channel, and yeah, still the same.
