Yeah! 1 Million! Well deserved. As far as equipment, that is really case by case. Had some that was very reliable that I loved that I sunk a bunch of money into during the winter when it wasn't needed replacing all wear items. I justified that it made more sense to sink the money into a reliable equipment that I know the history, and quirks rather than going into debt buying something that I don't know anything about. Others I hated and were problematic that I said "bye, bye" not worth putting the money in.

Sell it to me! It would be perfect for my small construction company. Im a addition and remodel guy just starting out on my own 2 years ago. For the amount I'd use it I could give it some love, new paint and make some money with this fine piece of iron ! Either way congrats on the million Stan, I look up to you and strive to operate at your level.

When to replace equipment: When the old equipment is costing you more than what it would cost to have new equipment. Old equipment cost - often lesser productivity with older equipment, employee costs due to unplanned down time for repairs (guys not getting the job done because equipment is broke, going for parts, etc), actual repairs (parts and labor), the intangible cost (reputation, for example) of delays to a Customer project due to equipment breakdown, the intangible cost of stress when equipment breaks down.

Keep the bobcat as a spare or floater machine and just use the Kubota 040 you bought last year those machines fit many spot it ain’t making money sitting in the yard.

Con’gratulations on 1 mill!! If I were you, I would price out a complete hose/pump rebuild, as long as it ran exceptionally well. If you have to do engine and pumps etc. the cost would have to be well under a newer low hour machine., or brand new. No different than a car or truck that you run.

A great and reliable unit that has served well deserves to have a complete overhaul, could be half the cost of replacing it, keep it serviced, and get another 20 years.
@huskiesgo59449 күн бұрын
Paid for doesn't mean anything. Lost revenue means everything. Scab repairs are not cost effective because it is in reality not fixed. Replacement is the best option. No down time for an extended period, no lost revenue.
@curtwinkle20108 күн бұрын
What to do with old equipment? I guess that depends on many factors, if equipment is well-maintained and only breaks periodically it's probably worth keeping around. If it's secondhand junk that was poorly maintained perhaps keeping it long enough to get it on the auction block is all you need to do. Example, I have a 25-year-old tractor that's nowhere ready to get rid of even though it's in rough condition by looking at it, it's a great running drivetrain. Currently, I'm considering a new tractor that is more capable, I believe I will keep this one still on pace

Scrap it. Cause if one your workers did a half ass job would you keep him. If he decided to just stop working after a half day would you pay him for a full day. Well the machine is an employee. That was hired on to do a job for you. Now it's up to management to assess if it this employee can still handle that job. Next move is up to you.

I would get a new mini excavator. Same size and everything. Plus there’s warranties and the dealer can service it for you. Yours guy will be happy with new equipment.

Might be time to replace the paid off model, but keep it @ your shop or home property for personal use or a back-up unit.

@@johnnybrophy8229 Look at official records prior to the 1970s. That's where you will find real facts that counter the global climate change propaganda. Have you heard of the Irish famine of 1740-1741 due to extremely cold weather?

If it’s easy to work on and parts are available give it a good coat of paint and some love if not get it running and pass it on to some homeowner or starting contractor you make some money and they get a starter machine Is that rock river wash or crushed it’s good it has drainage but if it’s not angular i don’t like it personally

All equipment breaks and all people have issues. Short jobs require reliable equipment/people or backup key equipment/people. Your mechanic on standby or nearby could be an option. On many jobs a mechanic was bid with the job on for example a concrete pour. Other times I (mechanic/operator) hauled equipment to the job and returned with broken equipment.

I replace all equipment with a diesel at 5,000 hours and anything with a gas motor at 1,000 hours.. I would never show up on a job site with anything Bobcat or Kubota sorry to say.. Equipment shows what your company is like.. Crappy looking equipment gives the customer a negative thought about your company
