@@JesseDriftwood Pint S firmware (and soon on Pint X with the new update in a few weeks) bumps the speed up 2mph. Before, pushback kicked in at 16mph and got more aggressive as you approached 18. Now it kicks in at 18 and gets more aggressive as you approach 20. How it kicks in may have been smoothed out a bit and not quite as sudden/jarring, but the angle it gets to by 20mph is definitely still a similar aggressiveness as before. If you check out our previous First Impressions video @ 13:40, you can get an idea of what to expect. Honestly, for the Pint platform, I'm cool with it. 17-18mph is a pretty damn comfy cruising speed for Pints, and you can juice it through pushback in short bursts if you really need to.

​@@travislindenberger3128 I think we might have to pass on that one 😂 With the firmware tweaks made (seems like more field weakening judging by higher free spin speed), it's likely 1-2mph higher speed before nosedive compared to Pint X / XR. Nothing crazy since it's still ultimately the same firmware. If you want to stay safe, I'd keep it 20mph and under. The pushback makes it pretty uncomfortable and sketch to ride beyond 20 regardless.

That wiring issues was actually fortunately resolved some months back, and AFAIK, they still stick to their policy that any existing Pints with the design flaw can be sent in to have the issue resolved free of charge.

[XR+, FL WTF, 2.5 months / 800 km of experience] i've been getting comfortable with speeds of around 25 kmph (about 15 mph) & i feel like pushback is less annoying when my nose is tilted -1° the catch: gotta ease into the acceleration... but it feels more stable at speed & reduces my foot fatigue significantly (as opposed to positive tilt), so ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

Install process is the same, just a tighter fit so they're a bit more tricky, but you got it 🤘 More about technique than brute force. The tighter fit is to reduce the likelihood of them popping off from impacts

There's no need to do two firmware updates, just do a single update straight to the latest firmware once the latest update is released in a few weeks. If you plan to get WTF rails at any point, I would get them and re-level prior to updating, and you are unable to once you update (just keep in mind that the re-leveling would be permanent upon updating).

Thanks for the deep dive. It's interesting to see how they handled things differently. Some lessons learned from previous iterations getting applied. I don't like how Roll and Yaw are combined, as I find that with my style of riding having Yaw boosted over Roll feels best, and with Carvability it seems they married them up. Oh well. It's a good thing I wasn't planning on getting a Pint anytime soon (ever).

The thing with shaping on the pints before is that it was leftover xr code which you could unlock *but* you also had to spoof the board as an xr if u wanted to change any of it in the app cause the app uses the board generation to determine what you can and can't do, exception now being the pint s where at least on android they just check for the pintx board generation and if it's running firmware 5200 or newer. Another side note is that in 5100 they removed parts of the ride mode code in the firmware that sets the custom shaping parameters so a "simple" unlock is not possible anymore in that firmware, has to be either 5040 or 5076 if one wants to unlock it

Ahh now I remember. I believe as an alternative to spoofing, you could also fore-go spoofing as an XR and instead use an alternative app such as Float Remote to access the custom shaping parameters. Just required spoofing if you wanted to access custom through the FM app.

Does the “Stance Profile” setting compensate for the 3 degree tilt of the WTF rails so they perform as intended in regular and switch riding? That’s the only thing that has stopped me from buying some for my Pint X!

Unfortunately it has the inverse effect when riding backwards (treats battery side as the new "nose"). So if you use it to compensate for W's, riding backwards will tilt the opposite way and have you captain morganing with the battery end way up in the air. As long as you're riding forwards though, it gets the job done, and the improved nose clearance on turns means you can actually get away with a bit less than max angle if you want. Or even riding in Pacific/Skyline if you really wanted to, especially for riding pushback.

I'd wait for when the update actually drops for Pint X in a few weeks, but once it does, it's definitely worth it. Better turning, higher pushback speed, and other ride improvements definitely make up for the haptic buzz IMO. If you plan to ever get WTF rails though, I'd wait on updating until you can get ahold of those and re-level prior, since you aren't able to post-update (just note that the re-level would be permanent)

Two main reasons: One, a simpler and more approachable custom shaping is probably more suitable for a Pint audience regardless. But also Two, it's much easier to work off of XR custom shaping since the Pint hardware and firmware are based on XR. XR custom was actually already in the firmware, just inaccessible. So starting with XR custom and improving from there is much easier development-wise. GT firmware and hardware are completely different, so porting over GT custom would be a more extensive development process. And supposedly, there actually wasn't much room on the Pint controller's flash to add much more complexity to the Pint firmware even if they wanted to.

Nah, these boards generally can take a huge beating, and tumbling is usually no issue. The situation he's describing where the board falls directly on the side rail from a drop is extremely harsh and really only happens in trick riding, but that specific kind of impact is notorious for killing boards haha. Video's audio did it no justice at all, it sounded like a straight up gunshot when he dropped it 😂

Unfortunately not, the XR and Pints are much too weak to take advantage of something like stiffer dynamic responsiveness. It would just make over-torqueing the board and nose/tail dipping feel more jarring and have a rubber banding effect, much like high aggressiveness already does.
