I'm a bigger guy and have run out of torque in the low speed stuff a number of times - so the extra torque with the GT-S motor is big for me. It costs the same as an ebike, but lower range, speed, and cargo capacity. But the benefit is the compactness and low maintenance, so you don’t need to lock it anywhere or get a bike rack, and it’s just easier to manage. This is only good if you’re like 5-8 miles away from your job and don’t need to carry cargo. Having an extra battery or charging spot could help with the range. Also I imagine it’s not great for off road at least in comparison to an ebike, can’t imagine being stable on those bumps. Must be harder to handle and learn as well
@AudiHere692 ай бұрын
@@FWS_Sinister 1) costs the same as **cheap** ebikes. The ebike id buy costs 5k, almost double 2) you are right, i carry it inside most of the time, not outside to be stolen 3) Last range test on my GT got me 30 miles, my commute is 5-8 miles one way. Plenty of juice for most cities. 4) i normally got a big backpack on which is good enough for office work or shopping. Hands free means ive carried stuff including a statue home! 5) i started riding on mountainbike trails, these things RIP off road trails. Look up Race for the Rail, its the superbowl of onewheel and is off road. 6) harder to learn? Maybe. That might be why scooters are the riskiest statistically, people get comfortable too quick and get themselves in trouble. Learning a onewheel is like learning to use a trackpad on high sensitivity, jarring at first but becomes second nature very quickly. 7) you are right, outlets are everywhere if you do need them. 8) ive actually pushed a cart full of speakers and lights 7 miles with my onewheel. Hands free means if you can push it, you can commute with it
@FWS_Sinister2 ай бұрын
@@AudiHere69 i am comparing it to other e-bikes at the same price range. if that range is true then it’s probably fine for most people, but an ebike can hit 20mph throttle only or 28mph with pedal assist and have the same or better range. You could carry non-backpack cargo with your hands on a onewheel, but i doubt the stability and weight distribution. Probably has more of an impact on speed and breaking than an ebike as well due to that. Plus it’s just more comfortable on an ebike when it’s made to have a rack on it, and you could carry more/heavier stuff, sometimes max loads being rated 300-400lb. I’m not saying one is better, just pointing out differences.
@AudiHere692 ай бұрын
@@FWS_Sinister i only mention carrying and pushing things because ive done it. I pushed 350lbs worth of boxes to fedex on a cart using a pint. Hard but doable. The speed argument seems useless cause if it was about speed id buy a motorcycle Super73XC1 is 10k and super73-z goes about 20mph according to their website and costs more than a GT and is cumbersome. I live in a city so a Onewheel checks all the boxes. I have two traditional bikes that I have mounted on my wall and I have a bike trailer that I store in my closet already. a onewheel buddy of mine owns an eskate, a scooter and a super73 and onewheels- he uses to onewheel the most out of convenience and enjoyability. As an avid cyclist, i think onewheels are safer once you get over the physics limit, you arent tied up around a metal frame when you crash

Do you have any tips for building leg & foot endurance while riding? I tend to get shaky legs and lose a lot of stability in my feet after riding for about 20ish minutes paved, generally carving at about 13-15mph. I find that carving helps relieve some of the fatigue for me, but from what I can tell in your riding, it's mostly a straight shot with very little carving.

Onewheel’s marketing feels off-they’re focusing on niche groups like stoner skaters and hippie ravers who might not afford their high-priced products. This misalignment could lead to low sales and wasted marketing efforts. By not targeting people with actual purchasing power-like mountain bikers, professionals aged 25-40, and commuters-they’re missing out on huge market opportunities and potential growth. Their approach might also confuse the brand’s image and dilute its premium appeal by showing tattooed stoners and "free-spirited" people vs a nice balance of tech nerds and adrenaline seekers.

That is the one thing I find on my commute I have to negotiate, as I still suck at curb nudges and it gets me right out of the flow state.

New to the one wheel, dont have one.. Just curious when you compared the commute to a bike and how sometimes the tire blow up, it sounds like the one wheel doesnt get punctures.. are the wheels filled with air? or is it foam?
@AudiHere695 ай бұрын
Its a tubeless air filled tire that is filled with "slime" that auto seals punctures. Out of all my onewheels (17k+ total miles ridden) I've only had one hole that left me stranded. Was a metal fence someone broke and left a metal spike in the ground that I did not see. I honestly think a Onewheel is safer than a bike

Great video and 10k is a lot, have you replaced the tire at all or the battery? Sorry if already mentioned but could not watch h the whole video. Thanks
@AudiHere692 ай бұрын
Its long because I'm lazy and wanted to do a single take, 12:46 I talk about the main repair I had to get at about 9,000 miles. I replace my tire once they they can't hold air anymore which is about 3-5,000 miles depending on how low my PSI. You can get max life out of a tire by first riding it with high PSI (25-30) to wear out the middle then going low to wear out. future Motion states 20psi as the optimum balance for rider experience and tire longevity. (I think I mentioned it in the vide) but a lot of people swap their tires right away for some reason, so I scoop up stock slick tires for cheap or free. My last tire was $20.

QUESTION: does riding often workout the midframe and legs somewhat, in that one must tuck, brace pr balance at times or much of the time? Please give your thoughts on that aspect.
@AudiHere692 ай бұрын
My legs have gotten wider. It does work out weird ancillary muscles in the leg, ankle and knee. I will say my balance is 5x better and when I play tennis my steps are way more "rooted".

Mentioning 10k miles in the title might be good. Thanks for the video. Curious how you feel about riding regular footed in the city. I’m regular footed too but do you find we are at a disadvantage over goofy footed riders who can face traffic as opposed to the curb?

Hey Great Video! Of your ride. I recently bought a “pint” from someone and they told me that it hasn’t been ridden for about a year… unfortunately when I got home and charged it…it did not turn on…not a good experience for me as a newbie in the “one wheel” world. I was told if I charge it straight for 48 hrs, it may balance back the cell that is not low. What’s your take on this . Any advice is appreciated 👍🙏
@AudiHere693 ай бұрын
@@kenengimaging I would probably tell you the same thing, I’ll leave it on charge for 48 hours or maybe a tad longer. Generally the issue is one of the battery cells in the pack either fills up before the others or sag and stays low so it can’t turn on. I’m sure there are some third-party apps that let you see the exact voltage of every cell in the pack. You could submit a diagnostics report through the future motion app and see what they have to say. In my opinion, it’s to buy new, but if you’re in the New York City area, I have a ChiBatterySystems Quart battery pack. I could sell you on the cheap. Assuming its just the pack thats bad- plenty of options and videos explaining how to swap them

I'm really surprised how much gt does speed wobbles on your ride. That looks really sketchy. Great job with mileage, but that wobble looks something that i would do to it before going over one trip. Most likely you can do the tuning and take out all the turning assists. That wobble most likely is because of fm has done assisting features into firmware, that every time you roll the board, it decelerates. And with custom tuning you can make it less prone to decelerate, that way it will be going like on rails.
@AudiHere694 ай бұрын
as mentioned in the video its only wobbly because of the shoes i'm wearing have an excessive amount of cushion. skate shoes are better.

This motivated me to start commuting again. It’s 17 miles each way but about to move closer and be 6 miles each way! What is your PSI and weight if you don’t mind me asking? Also curious what your first impressions/from what you’ve see of the XR-Classic model? Gonna get it or it doesn’t have enough range like the GT.

@@OnewheelAsh Its a GoPro 11 I had kicking around, I'd stick to the GT if you're a commuter, it's got the most range! I love my pint but nothing beats not having to worry about range and 17 mile commute would be cutting it close if you live where it gets cold.

I ate asphalt a couple times, luckily on my way home from work vs to! Commuting on a pint full send is certainly a bold strategy. GT can handle a lot, FST system helps with the asphalt waves and potholes. Wrist guards and a full face helmet is a must for full sending!
