The explanation is Todd's ego, Pagliarulo's ego, and a form of toxic positivity from Bethesda where they say to themselves "everything we do is good and the fans aren't playing the game right and a lot of people like Fallout 76 and Starfield and tell us they do" mentality. It will be the end of that studio down the road if that continues imo.

Was I expecting more news outside of FO76? Yeah, just a bit. Nothing major, but ultimately I was kind of hoping to see more of an acknowledgement of the wider Fallout fanbase for the first ever Fallout Day Livestream. Something along the lines of maybe a montage video set to the Ink Spots and showcasing various gameplay footage from all their games, and even footage from the Interplay games where Fallout ultimately began. It's Fallout Day, not Fallout 76 day. But hopefully going forward we could see a bit more of that.

I would consider myself a regular 76 player. When people say they don't get into the camp building side of things, thats wild to me personally thats like 60% of all of the content in the game. Getting stuff for your camp and then making a cool camp. Maybe its just me, but I can literally spend 10 hours on the game across 2-3 days and be doing NOTHING but tearing down and rebuilding a camp because I saw something that gave me a neat idea for one. 76 is what I would call a filler game. Its not something I can just sit down for weeks/months on end. Its a very good "while I wait for this" on other games. I play alot of star citizen, 76 has been a great time killer in those long stretches waiting for them to update that game. Its a really neat little thing that has a surprising bit of depth in terms of player builds. It does have a good lack of real end game content, most of what you do right now in the game involves just grinding levels, doing public events and the holiday events when they come around, and of course collecting all the neat stuff for your camp. Im glad to see them adding some sort of what appears to be challenging content, because gotta be honest.. once you get a build online in 76 you basically rip apart the game. Nothing can stand against you and you will just literally plow over everything with ease. Will be great to have to actually fight something that is an actual threat to you. But I agree with most people on here, talking about 76 was fine but this was basically more of a 76 update stream than about fallout. They really should of spent more time talking about the franchise as a whole, about what they might want to do with it, about how it was making the show and where they want to see that go. If anything this showed that they really don't have any new fallout releases planned anytime soon and one probably isn't even in production. Which is a bit sad =(

You touched on something I've mentioned multiple times with saying how bosses were something you could talk your way past or how it would just be part of the wildlife, the whole abandonment of RPG mechanics for the sake of grindy MMO fare does not make for a better Fallout experience. The dog and pony show of the presentation was fun, but why all of that to say you can play as a ghoul and they're trying to turn the game into WoW?

It's a live service game and that's what people expect to be included in live service games these days. I only recently started doing the public events in F76 and I have to admit it can be a lot of fun taking down bosses with the help of 6-12 others. Before this year, I played F76 solo or co-op with real life family & friends. It's a big map and there is a ton of stuff to do. I like that people can play however they want. Some folks spend nearly all their time building camps.
