It's like Dennis Miller said, in the 1996 Playboy Interview, about the first time he saw Richard Belzer: "Before that, I was a normal, nice comic, sucking up to the audience. Seeing Belzer changed my life. Some lady yelled 'Do Mick Jagger!' and he said "What am I, your fucking comedy pet? Why don't I come down there and fuck you while your husband watches?' She laughed, and her husband laughed even harder. I thought, 'Oh, I get it, they enjoy a little abuse. They spend all week at work getting their asses kissed, and having to kiss ass, and this is the only place they can get some honesty.' It was like bam, the sword from the stone." WTYP is like punk rock, or a forest fire. It cuts through the crap. It clears the palate before the next course of everyday shite. Cheers.

That Amtrak train crash you talk about at 52:45 was not in Oregon, it was in Olympia, Washington. My co-workers were EXTREMELY late for work that day, and sent some dazzling pictures of the train hanging off the bridge. One of our folks was the third automobile back from the actual dangling train cars - she knew a little first aid and had blankets & water, so she did what she could.

Canadian National employee here. We got updated instructions about how to handle the company's own business cars about a year ago, now they must go on the tail end (which does look cool as hell) but before we were supposed to move them on the head end of lighter trains. Also, as a freight guy, I can confirm that we WILL find a way to mess up your passenger car, doesn't matter how many instructions you tape to the windows and doors they will be ignored. Following your car around is a very, very, very good idea. We do have special instructions for handling passenger coaches in freight trains but they're buried in a part of the operating manual that no one ever reads. Oh, and while you're whining about the BS that goes on in hump yards just be happy that PSR didn't close the hump yet.

the old Cascades taldos were junk at the end. They needed another full overhaul top to bottom. The interiors were beat to shit and they were reeeaaaaally starting to ride rough at the end, particularly in push mode; if you were on the far end of the power it'd knock your beer off the table. I was making 2 to 3 round trips from Seattle to Portland monthly at the end of their service. The new Talgos are much better, but in all honesty the Horizon cars running on the Cascades are more comfortable even though they're getting pretty long in the tooth.

Man, I can't believe the hosts of the WTYP prodcast, their editor, and two of their most recent guests were all found dead of suicide within 24 hours of each other. It's so strange, they all seemed perfectly fine during the episode, especially with how gruesome their suicidal acts were. As far as I can tell, the only statements put out by any of their local authorities were complaints about how "it looked like a pitched firefight happened in here" at Devon's place.

If the talgos are a european sports car with the weird suspension that looks cool, then the HSTs are a classic british sports car - small and light, goes really fast, made of fiberglass and rust, runs well only in extremely specific conditions because it was made by blokes in a shed for other blokes in sheds and WILL break if you look at it wrong

Yeah, things are much better now. All hail Lord God Modernity.

The emojis you are about to see are products of their time. They may depict some of the ethnic and racial prejudices that were commonplace in American society. These depictions were wrong then and are wrong today. While the following does not represent the Angry Scouter's Friend view of today's society, these cartoons are being presented as they were originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed.

I don't know how you decide what topics to make videos about but it would be cool if you did one about the Boeing light rail train you've brought up a few times before. Another great topic would be the Battle of Palmdale, where the Air Force tried to shoot down a target drone they lost control of and, because of the terrible engineering of the fighters they used, ended up raining more than 200 rockets on the suburbs of Los Angeles.

I feel what Gareth says about the nostalgia thing on the HST's I dint live on terf Island but where the yellow and blue NS roams. We have news about the koplopers going out of service because they are 46 years old. I want them to keep running forever because they are iconic as can be, but i understand that newer trains would be better and they should retire (still really dont want that, because i loke seeing the koploper) (At least i am praying for a sentimental goodbye video like they gave the SGM, which was really beautiful (if you want to see this, it is called "afscheid van de oersprinter SGM | NS"))
