I can remember a game chasers episode where Billy and Jay where arguing about having kids and Jay saying that Billy would have someone to play games with and Billy's response was that he'd have someone to fight over games with. How times change.

It is so interesting to hear you talk about gaming with your son. I binged the Chasers Episodes thoughout the last couple of weeks again... and there is this moment, where you argue with Jay about a kid taking your games... and him saying... "No, you got a buddy to play with." Im very happy for you, that being a father makes you happy.

Everytime I watch your videos I go back to my childhood. Playing the NES and Genesis with my younger brother. Now I am collecting my childhood games I owned or rented back then. It's wonderful to see you and your son bonding over the love of video games. It's the pleasure and sense of happiness to play with the ones you love. Times I haven't forgotten to this day. Keep up the great work Billy!

I had to choke back the tears when you got to the part about your son... I started collecting back in 2007-ish with my bro, and a few years back i came to the same realization, the collection wasn't just for me alone anymore... My son and I sit in our basement gameroom together about every evening playing games.

Billy, at 19:47 there's a shot of your son pulling a game off the wall. To his right, a copy of Mystery Quest. I have had that game stuck in my head for the last 30 years as I played it at a neighbor's house as a kid but couldn't remember just what it was called. This stood out and clicked immediately. Same game. Thanks for triggering the nostalgia!

If you want to keep the figures in the case from falling over, you could try to stick them down with something. Probably not actual glue or anything, but depending on how heavy they are a little piece of double-sided tape might even do the job. Love the game room!

You might look into restoring warped or dented boxes. There are some safe simple ways to straighten them and make them look almost new. I recommend the techniques in RMC's video Repairing Crushed Big Box Games. Smaller boxes can be opened and folded flat for steam and ironing like Nintendrew's video shows.

The game room looks like a nice organized and comfortable setup, cool that you still have the Atari ST set up in its own space. And even better you can now enjoy the games with your son. Enjoy the time they grow up so quickly, we have three adults now, and one is only a year and a bit off, so weirdly moving into the next phase. Hopefully there is room on those NES shelves for one more, as my game (after all this time) is almost done!

Awesome collection Billy! Even your game room is super cool and down to earth. Very impressive, but down to earth. I love the laid-back 80s era look rather than crystal cases and fiber optic lights everywhere. It's a nice homie vibe you've got there. lol I love your Mario 3 shrine too man. I had a Gameboy advanced cartridge with the touched up graphics version of Mario 3 when I was a kid. One of my favorite Mario games, God I used to sit at home and in the car playing that game for hours. I had the advanced SP with the back light too so I could even play it on night drives in the back seat. Nice Micky D's boxes. 😆 The shrine's all the further I made it in yet but I look forward to the rest of this video. And I hope that if anything drastic changes in the future you'll reconsider showing us this collection again, I'd love to see any additions you add. Glad you've got it to where you wanted it though, looks great man. Thanks for sharing.

I love the Gremlins display unit. I only have a few and those are dotted around. I used to have couple unit like that, the IKEA Detolf ones, and I'd always come in the room to find one or two figures fallen over. I started using Blu Tack Glue Dots, invisible and not damaging but held them up ok. Sadly I had to get rid of them units though as just not enough space. Would love a glass unit full of Gremlins though, looks awesome

I highly recommend this. I came across tack at a gsale and had the same thought. It's perfect for figures with raised heels like the original Turtles. A blob of tack fills the gap and it's mostly unnoticeable. I like to figure out something that allows hanging of figures / plush such as a glider or ship. I'd like something that is removeable and without screws, but remains fixed when necessary. All my rigs fall down. Maybe my items are too heavy.
@mumfnah
@mumfnah Жыл бұрын
@@WhatsOnMyShelf yes I don't actually know of a good means, but small Neodymium Magnetic Hooks/Buttons, and small length of Fishing Wire or Magician's String, come to mind... Would need to secure the ceiling side hook. Could then have the ship/figure directly stuck to another hook and link the hooks, or have the fishing/magician wire between which would create distance and be almost invisible. The ship/figure hook button could be stuck on with some Gorilla Heavy Duty Double Sided Mounting Tape, [which is strong, I've used in my arcade to fix a small speaker bar to the ceiling of cabinet]. That would allow you then easily take them down from ceiling if want to show to someone or whatever by just lifting the hook [from either other hook, or fishing string loop]. Downside, that Gorilla tape at the ship/figure side. Would need to be hard plastic I guess that the residue could be easily wiped off in future, wouldn't imagine something like plush/canvas material would be good. Figures, probably wouldn't bother with hook that end, just the fishing wire tied in a look around them. Might be a pretty lame idea, just what came to mind so offering as food for thought. Those magnet hooks are strong and Amazon sell bundles at fair prices
@WhatsOnMyShelf
@WhatsOnMyShelf Жыл бұрын
@@mumfnah I've tried tape and string before, but not gorilla tape. The tape usually peeled, causing the string to slide and the figure to fall. I never thought of using gorilla tape or duct tape. I used a moderate shipping / packing tape. I was in the hardware store the other day and saw clear gorilla tape, which would be very inconspicuous. Anyways, thanks for the ideas. I've got something to look into to fix the problem.

Sell what you are never going to use. - Id much rather have a handful of decent stuff, then a room full of stuff that is "cool" but means nothing! - Good video, and 100% agree with the sharing thing. There really was something special about being a kid and discovering video games in the 80's and 90's. You barely had any, maybe 2 a year. Most were rented from the video store, often just based on box shots and a cool name. They were almost mysterious in a sense in that you only went by word of mouth or magazine ads to find out about new ones or cool ones before the internet.

Being in my 40s now, I'm looking around my collection, and thinking it's time to pare down a bit, especially when I was gifted a PS5 and realized how bloody big it was. Can't just keep filling the space forever. It's going to be rough, but I'm sure I can do it. I like the way you have your stuff arranged, and the custom shelving is great, I might have to pick up a measuring tape and saw, and maybe some scrap wood and do that myself! Have a good one, Billy!
