Hey Devin I have experience in this. A little bit of advice. Find a mid brand paint with a good paint mixer working for the company. Im in the industry and no one uses Deltron. Deltron PPG will make shops go out of business on material costs. No bueno. Also be careful on the hood because you primed to the tape line. Never do that because your base coat will make an edge and it will show up just like that with an edge and you'll def see it when you clear. Too avoid that make sure you DA that edge flat. Feather the hell out of it. Start blend priming. Kinda how you did the fender just dont let the primer get to the tape line. Also look into high compression fittings for your paint gun and upgrade guns. Check out Iwata Lph400. Thats a sweet beginner/ intermediate paint gun. And the color they mixed isnt too bad. The rule of thumb with blending is : its better to blend a lighter color than darker color. But if your not happy with the color just bring the spray out card to the paint company and they should re tint it for you. The 2nd time always matches on point. I think you shouldn’t let money get in the way of you improving your painting skills. You have to bend the card To match the contour of the panel so the light hits it the same on both surfaces. Then you can see if the paint matches

when i painting car bumbers i sanding the bumper with 320 with a da and hard reatch areas with 320 sponge after that i spray 4 to 1 ration standox primer 3 coats then dry sand that with a 500 paper to make it smooth with the DA, pro tip use black powder guide coat to know when ur panel is flat then after that go over all with brown/red scothbrite to to make ur edges uniform and smooth, you will get glas surface when u lay ur clearcoat :)

For that price for just base I would want the base to be perfect match, so I would go and get it redone, but for cheaper paint in the 100-200$ range I would of sprayed it since your still blending. I wouldn’t blend that far into the fender like you were saying so there’s a bit more original color left.

Anyone knows where the small hose attached to the 90 degree fitting on the coolant tank goes? Got myself one but I found no info in where the plug it/route it. The line I’m talking about is showed next to the coolant reservoir cap at 0:42

I think the flake is just settling different on your card. Fanning out the blend at a diagonal spray during the blend should help. That's what paint society does. Before I learned that, I just did the light fan spray of metallics before clear. It came out pretty damn well and your definitely more skilled then me.

Adjust the pressure spray it darker. Anyways blend will trick eye into thinking same colour. It will bre really hard to find difference. Spray card has a sharp edge and will always be slightly different.

The bumper turned out amazing for sure! I To your point, it's hard to paint match on different surfaces, even from factory. I always get annoyed when I notice how different my 2015 STi bumper is from the hood and fenders. Not by much, but I notice it cannot un see it.😅😅

black is the hardest paint to spray besides pearlescent colours it usually gets sprayed all at once - whole car so it all matches

Match to the doors/sail panels . Never match to a gas cap. They are usually a different color. I would do another spray out. Do two medium wet coats and then do a orientation coat to level out the metallics. That will give you your accurate color. Since you’re blending the fenders I would base the whole hood and blend the top of the fenders and where the bumpers butt up to. Hard to tell at the color through the screen but think to yourself what does the spray out card need that the car has? More brown? More black? Then go back to the store and tell them what you think. Hopefully someone there can tint the color for you. Otherwise best bet is to get a camera shot or the doors and go from there. Good luck!

It looks like you keep checking the color using the dark primer end and not the light primer end when your using light primer. That’s the point of the card and the 3 shades of primer.

Next time you are filling stone chips use a razor blade as a spreader, it’s a lot more precise and you don’t get big blobs of glaze all around the chips

well this is an easy one. just paint out the simplest smallest type part you have. and let that decide what you do next. you aint gotta do it all at once bruhski. make sure something looks right after a respray then grade up from there. and make sure the foxy thang helpin ya wears a mask when using a sander even outside. cant have her dying off or the channel would be half what it is. much love.

Hey bud your going to have problems on that hood with a ghost line in your paint because of the hard edge you might wanna sand that and reprime past the last section and flip your paper and feather it off before than resand good luck

solid colors are the only way to go. metal flake, and pearls are miserable to make a 100% match. for a guy who likes to tinker with body work, by cars with plain solid colors.

Devin, I agree, while hard to tell watching a vid, the color looks a tad off. Like its a touch darker than the original car color. The car has this slight brown tint to the black. At some points, it almost looks like there is purple but I think its the more brown tint in the black that I am seeing. Close but yeah, I would def ask and see what they say.
