DIY: Lithium 18650 Cells Charger By Using TP4056 Modules

This time I'll make a charger, which could charge 5 pcs of lithium ion 18650 cells at a time. Parts for this build cost only 5$ at ebay: 18650 battery holders and TP4056 charging modules.
In video, I forgot to mention about power supply current. In my case - to power up 5pcs of TP4056, it's need a power supply witch could give minimum 5 amps of current.

yes, but if 1 cell with same mAh is charged per 1 hour, this will be charged per 2 hour :)

simple clean build, you put most of those Ive seen to shame, I especially like how you started soldering little bits of wire for the positive then realised how much quicker it would be to strip the wire a bit more and crimp it to make it stick out and just solder that, I like your style :)

I tried same way to power these boards instead of using usb cable. But the boards aren't working after that. The leds are always red, even without battery. And output at B+ B- also shows less than 1V, even with USB cable connected.

hi. after disconnecting my laptop charger my batter dies in 5-7 minutes. so i remowed my laptops batteries when i checked them it varies 3,82 - 3,83 3,84 - 4,07 so i charged with tp4056 so i have some question 1- how long should i charge them 2 how can i understand they are charged fully 3 after a 10 15 minutes charging some of my batteries decreased 4,07 to 4,02 even they are free (not charged or used) is that normal? 4 what can i do apart from those techniques ( by the way i am not experienced of electricity i just watch videos :) thanks from now on

The whole shebang costs 4 dollar at AliExpress china. Maybe less! i bought 10 TP4056 for $ 2.00 Yesterday The guy who made the vid is right, much electronic shit is really cheap in China. In Russia, Europe and the USA you get ripped off ! A shame tough, he used these crappy battery holders! The ones without spring are far more trustworthy in keeping contact with the battery and durability.

I want to charge a bunch of up to 9x 2900mah samsung cells in parallel mode (need that ~3.0-4.2V for an LED Matrix project). Therefore I need a much higher charging current, eg from a 6A 5V power Supply. Any how, I cant find a circuit / module to charge with more than 1amp. I wondered if I could use eg 3 of those cheap TP4056 circuits to charge with 3 amps in parallel - or are there other options? These 9 batterys act like an internal battery in my case so they will be all connected in parallel.

I purchased 10 x TP4056 madules from aliexpress and they were taking 1-2 hours at the begining and now even after 12 hours they are not completing charging.When I put those batteries to my smart charger i see they wer 80-90% only charged after that long time. Ideal Stripmaster, or a copy thereof. They cost around US$35 to US$45 and have been available for about 30 years. They're often used in pre-production and prototyping environments in industry when a moderate amount of wire stripping is to be done. Even though they're bulkier and more expensive, they can strip wires in a more consistent fashion than simple stripper/cutters, with much less chance of nicking the conductors, and they're good for partially removing the insulation, as shown in this video.

this is the best method the charging current should be 0.37 5 of the battery currunt capacity each tp4056 provides 1000ma max so any battery from 1200 ma to 2600ma cane be charged.moreover all batery need not to be of same capacity.total cost of 6 tp4056 in indai ils 150r s much less than bms .also each batteryn has its own protectin gr man

All depends from power supply specs ( how mutch curent it could supply at 5V). All PSU have a spec sticker on it, there you could find those numbers.

thanks for asking Fahad Al-Monaya I have assembled a 100 cell charger unit using the same charging units as here my only problem is that these PC boards do not seam to shut off even if left for hours I have installed 1 120 amp 5 volt dc power supply Mean Well HRPG-600-5 AC/DC AC/DC Power Supply Single-OUT 5V 120A it handles these cells quite easily.

Iv got 5 boards in parallel for 5 cells, I'm using a 5v 2a iPad usb wall socket, does it matter if I use something with an output of over 5a As long as it's 5v? am I right in saying that if the supply is 5v and say 20a for example then the charging modules would still only draw 5a and wouldn't be overloaded from a power supply with 20a output?

ı saw somewhere that you should use isolated input to each tp4056 module otherwise it would either shot circuit or some features wouldn't work, I too also am trying to use tp4056 as opposed readily available 3s chargers without datasheets. but i don't want to use isolated input power for each cell..Can you guys comment on this? it seems like the cells will not charge faster because they'r in parallel connection the circuit path is different which is every cells will receive 250mA out 1A to overcome such delay you may use 5A LM2596 buck converter.

In case anyone is planning on building one of these in the future I think I should mention that there are *two* versions of this TP4056 module, one of which is a direct upgrade to the other. If you're looking to pick a few up, make sure they have 6 pads total, with 2 in the front (positive and negative), and four in the back (OUT positive, B positive, B negative, OUT negative).

It is not necessary. If you use TP4056 for only charge Li-ion only, old version is really good. But, if you do some DIY flaslight or boombox, whatever you want, new version of TP4056 would be good, it will protect your battery from deep discharge.

+Nevada Saga Suseno Just connect micro usb plugin into one of the chargers and solder the other one's input connectors to the first one - plus to plus, minus to minus. Make sure your phone charger delivers 2 amps of current minimum and you should be good to go.

for a full speed charge, you need 1A per cell you are charging. A 2.4A supply would still charge them, just at 2.4/5 the nominal speed. I use a 2A supply for an iPad and charge 5 batteries, at a much lower speed.

Yes, you can put them in parallel(+ to + and - to -), it might charge slower, but it's certainly doable.

check the datasheet. You need to make sure it can handle the 1A charge current, and that the upper voltage is 4.2v, like the 18650 cells.
