The newer versions of this soldering gun use the push in style 12vdc (194) bulb. If you take 3, 5mm LED's and wire them in series, two under one over, giving a triangle shape, you can have an excellent result. You can use a small piece of rubber to hold the two remaining LED leads against the contacts in the original bulb socket. Leads can be inserted either way. You can insulate the led terminals, and simultaneously create a solid piece using 2 part epoxy glue. No resistors or capacitors are necessary, and the lights work fine on both temperature settings.☼☺☼ Update 9.24.2021 I found that the LED's will burn out after a few months, if you add a 150 ohm 1/4 watt resistor to one of the leads, the problem should be resolved. ☺

I modify my solder gun, and headset magnifier to led, just not like that. I gutted the bulb receptacle, and soldered the led and resistor to it, I only needed a 10 ohm resistor I think, I can't really remember, it could be a 100 ohm.

is weller original wedge light bulb using DC OR AC voltage ?
@TheScottytr6 Жыл бұрын
The original bulb uses AC. There is a winding that supplies about 2 volts AC for it. Not enough to light a white LED with a forward voltage of about 3V. That is why this one needs to run from the 120V with the dropper cap. My Weller D550 has the 2 bulbs in series and does have enough voltage for 3V white LEDs: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qauafn6Oot6afLM

De cuántos ohm seria la bobina primaria para q la pistola sea de 100 wats con alambre 26? .
@TheScottytr68 ай бұрын
The primary measures around 20Ω DC using my Fluke 87. The AC resistance/impedance at 100W would be around 145Ω .
