Wow! Thank you for telling this story. My mother's family came from Denham, Cheapside Lane and had lived there for generations. From at least 1700 to early 1900's. My G grandfather would have been about 8-9yrs old when this happened. Probably played with the children. His father, my G G grandfather, was the Estate carpenter at Denham Court. Such a tragedy and it must have affected the community. When he grew up, my G grandfather joined the Police in London and would have been serving at the time of 'Jack The Ripper'. When my G grandfather was 17, still living in Denham, he went to London, around the time of the Princess Alice paddle boat disaster on The Thames and picked up a piece of the wreckage, which I still have. Between 600 & 700 people died in the sewage polluted water.

I always love how it was so easy to get away with murder back then, no forensics and like this one no detectives in the area, and yet they still get caught. You'd think it'd be obvious to not wear the clothes of someone you just murdered, let alone wear it to the trial!

No doubt he threw the bloodstained clothes he had worn away, so had to wear the clothes he stole, many people only had the clothes they stood up in, no spares in a wardrobe.

To be fair, only about 50% of murders in the US get solved, even today. True crime shows and shows like CSI make out as if it’s almost impossible to get away with murder these days, but if you watch interviews with seasoned detectives, they paint a different story. The biggest reason most murder cases today get solved is because the murders are easy to solve, and usually the killer is somebody close to the victim,...but stranger killings are still very difficult to solve even today. Plus, if there’s no body, then nobody is even thinking about a murder. Israel Keyes is a perfect example of the kind of modern serial killer operating today, the kind that doesn’t leave bodies laying around, the kind that doesn’t want to draw attention to himself, and sadly, the victims of these killers often just ends up on a missing persons lists, and stay there forever.

wherever there are three people one has the potential to kill, one to be the victim and one to be a witness. It is extremely naïve to say that nothing has changed over 150 yrs. Nothing has changed in the entire history of the human race (and I am not talking about the stupid idea that we have only been here 6000 yrs. I am talking several hundred thousand yrs. Man started out as a beast that killed for food or self preservation but eventually turned killing in to an art form. I always wondered if the killer had committed other murders. With how he butchered the entire household, it seemed far to thought out. Plus the whole killing cats thing seems a bit serial killer like. However I believe back then people saw cats as pests so maybe that detail is irrelevant. Either way a terribly sad story.

No, cats on farms and elsewhere were definitely needed to protect from the actual pests, mice/rats and the like. Not exactly family members like today though there were definitely people keeping them as pets. Feral cats are a different matter. The reason is probably because back then the development of violent murderers and serial killers was not well understood.

Also, there was,and to an extent still is, a bit of a macho aspect to many men not liking cats. Liking cats is often seen as efeminate, even though there are plenty of men-andplanty of the men who worked farms and other manual labour jobs- who liked and were kind to cats.I´ve run into this kind of behaviour in certain young men all my life and find it troubling and even more so, troubling that there isn´t a stronges reaction against it.

After listening and learning about this tragic story it reminds me of one that my grandmother told me about many years ago which was called the Llangiby murders in Monmouthshire of the Watkins family in 1876 which was carried out by a 21 year old Spanish recently released convict who was caught and eventually hanged . There is no trace of the murder cottage anymore as it was pulled down a few years after the family had been murdered.

His videos are great but I don’t think KZbin is the best place for true crime. Maybe it’s because I’m a podcast addict lol, but I’m often annoyed by KZbin true crime simply because it’s impossible to get the full details of any murder case in a 20 minute video, and that’s where I feel KZbin often falls short. Too many youtubers butcher crime cases simply by trying to fit the details into short videos. Personally I think Podcasts are the best platform for true crime just because they can devote an hour or more to a case, and you get a much better and fuller picture that way. That being said, I do like this channel, and the creator is enjoyable and easy to like

I have grown up not to far away from Denham village in Iver Heath and have never heard this case. How awful poor family terrible.
