Be prepared to either take a nap or try to fight it the best you can by keeping active. I've been using it off and on for years and it still has the same effect on me. Hey there.... just a tip from me. I was prescribed Doxepin for depression and trouble sleeping. I was on it about 10 years. Meanwhile I thought maybe I could do without the doxepin. Doc had me taper off and was ok at first but then I got this really awful sensitivity to touch. It would start as an itch that would turn into a very painful burning itch. Even a slight touch could set it off. I tried about 2 months and had to go back on. Later another doctor changed it to hydroxyzine. It works well for me. I don't know if I had an unusual reaction coming off the doxepin but it was torture. Thanks for this good lesson.... I learned from you and it's the first time I've come across you.

I’ve never seen the benefit of this drug for anxiety...I wish I did. The doctors are running from benzos even for those who need it. I’m hoping drugs like this that work for some people can help us tackle anxiety regularly. So I am an alcoholic who is weaning off alcohol. I can't stop completely because it causes massive anxiety issues and can be dangerous. I told the doctor I cannot have any type of narcotic, but I need something to help control the anxiety and some other symptoms. They prescribed this to me and it has worked wonders. First couple of days it caused me to be quite sleepy, but after a while it just kinda... calms me down. I am super happy they went with this medicine to help me go through what I'm doing. So far I'm down to about half the amount of alcohol I drink and I regularly just don't want to drink (thank god). The loss of concentration is real, but it isn't anything crazy. Seems that the first few days are when the symptoms are the most common.

But everyone is different. For me, I literally would just sit in a chair and do nothing... I mean absolutely nothing. There are many medications for anxiety, and I have taken amitriptyline for many many years and it works wonderfully. Ativan was the best medication that I ever took, but it's rarely prescribed nowadays because it's highly addictive. Gabapentin also worked very well for me. You might wanna give that a try. I wish you all the luck!

Did taking that medicine for your flight make you sleepy when you took it? I’ve been experiencing extreme anxiety about my heart rate recently, and I ended up going to get some testing done like ECG, stress test, and ultrasound. Even after all of that my anxiety still persists. I’ve had an extended holter monitor for 14 days and I still can’t get it out of my head. After taking this specific medication I’ve noticed extra instances of ectopic heartbeats, and a little bit of relief when it comes to constantly being aware of my own heart rate. So I suppose I would be asking, does this drug increase the chances of my ectopic heartbeats?
@jacobsmith50172 жыл бұрын
I have had the exact. Same. Experience. Had a series of panic attacks in my younger years which lead to my own awareness of my heartbeat. Worst year or two of my life. I was constantly worried I was going to die, was constantly checking my heart rate and blood pressure, had an ultrasound on my heart, had to wear a Mobile monitor that measured my blood pressure every hour, the whole works. Was prescribed hydroxyzine , and it all went away. The anxiety of feeling my heartbeat, the actual awareness of my heart beat, everything. Actually 10 days ago stopped taking hydroxyzine after taking it every single day for over 3 years (which is not a good idea) , and it helped me Through my tough times.

I take 10 mg and I just asked my doctor to up my dosage to 25. It does work for me, sometimes I cut it in half, because I don’t wanna fall asleep at work lol. There are days where I take it every day and then there are days where I only take it once or twice a week and then I won’t take it again for over another week or so, it’s prescribed for me 3 times a day AS NEEDED. It does make me calm and it does help me sleep a little. I heard it’s good for anxiety and allergies and what not. I wanted to take this instead of a controlled substance, because I heard that you can’t get addicted to it.

I don't feel i need the gaba now. the hydroxyzine gives me such an overall sense of well being I have even cut my opioid use in half. I think you can stop the gaba. ask your Dr. first. the less drugs the better i say.

My doc prescribed me 50mg tabs for anxiety/insomnia, but after a couple doses, I think I might need a lower dose, maybe 25mg. I take it at night before bed and it is effective, but I still feel very groggy for the first 2-3 hours in the morning and I can't have that. I need to wake up feeling energized so I can work out and get on with my day, but the last thing I want to do is work out when I wake up on this stuff. It saps my motivation.
