Ryan and Nathan react to both the original song by I-TEN and Floor (of Nightwish) and her recent cover of the song. Most are familiar with Heart's cover of this song, but we thought it would be cool to include the original and react to both!

"Nobody's here for us." Reaction videos from favorite reactors introduce some of us to new music ... but also justifies and enriches our repeat experiences of our favorites. If I put this breathtaking cover-of-a-cover on repeat, I risk trivializing it and becoming oversaturated with it. But when I visit the song with reactors, they (y'all) make it new again and often provide extra insights that deepen my appreciation. Your "industry" is a vital component for people to discover and reflect on great music, which, in turn, encourages our best individual angels.

Best Solo remains i-Ten. The raw Rocky version. Heart also revived the song with more powerful vocal and a Romantic solo. Nice video guys keep doing more videos on originals and covers. It's very interesting.

🙂 I remember when my dad bought I-Ten's album. Alone stood out to one of my sisters and she kept playing it over & over again. The guy singing is Tom Kelly. One of the co-writers. The song did nothing commercially. Four years later, Heart covered it, and it became the second biggest song, in the world, for 1987. According to Billboard. When Floor's After Forever band covered Alone, in 2007, it was played for Ann Wilson by a Denver radio DJ. Ann said, "Wow! Beautiful vocals." Enjoyed your reaction guys. This was a nice cover of Alone.

This original band i_Ten wrote this song, gave it to Heart and the singer in this version actually sang the high backup parts on Heart's version.

Thank you for remembering Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly did write the song for their album! Oh, it was released in 1983.

They have many good songs! I bought this CD in 1883 while stationed in Germany whine in the US ARMY. Check out I Don't Wanna Lose You! That's my other fave on this collection.

I had NEVER heard the i-Ten version, but I really quite like it!! ...and obviously I love Floor. She could sing the phone book (aged myself there) and I would listen.

I didn't know Heart covered that. I thought it was an original for the Wilson sisters - I was planning to google it but you threw it in there. Fuckin thank you! You know, at first I wondered whether it would have the same emotional impact with a dude singing (silly I guess) but it sure does. Anyone else getting Kansas vibes? No, just me? In fact, I love I-TEN's version, so again, thank you for introducing us to that. Heart has a special place in my .. hehe, so anyway, enough said about them. And of course, Floor blew me away as she always does. Also, as always, kick ass reaction. Thank you, guys.

I should also add that, even though I'm one avid-ass Floor fan, this is not going to supplant i-TEN or Heart as the number one version of this song. I guess I'm just used to it being a bit less gentle, music wise. I can understand why she kept it minimal, but yeah, not number one.

Thanks for putting the I-Ten version up first. It's always nice to hear the original. That said, sometimes the songwriting is better than the original performance. There are plenty of example out there, like K. D. Lang owning "Hallelujah". Heart kicked it up a notch and Floor kicked it up another one.

Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly song writers started the band. They also wrote..." Like A Virgin" Madonna,, " Sex As A Weapon" Pat Benatar". "I Drove All Night", Cindi Lauper. She allso covered it with NW in a small club in Florida

She can sing this while sitting down, hows the hart accoustic she sits down with Troy the whole time and no way that is pre recorded is you look closely to the guitar play of Troy and if this is pre recorderd or not still an amazing job of in my opinion the best female vocalist in the world ever also look how versatile she is....out of this world good

I had forgotten about the I-10 and that Heart did a cover. Thank you for doing the research. This is one of my pet peves. People covering, for example, I will always love you calling it a Whithey Huston song. I am old enough to remember this old version and it was probably a hit in Sweden where I lived then since I remember it. I-10 was a band that was firmly in the American West Coast Rock genre (Richard Marx most known example of this genre). It was a then chart topping genre in Sweden where Rock 'n Roll always have been popular. Floors version is breath taking but i didn't like the piano, it felt cheap. I liked the idea of the piano but there is something off. Don't know why.

Well, she could, but at some points you can see her mouth does not line up exactly with what we hear. This is just because it is easier to do the recording and video separate. But yeah she could belt sitting down easy no doubt.

She sits differently in the Planet Rock session though with her legs at a more open angle that would make deeper breathing easier. She also stays upright or leans back where as here she leans forward. Still if anyone could belt while sitting like this pretty sure its Floor.

Not my favourite Heart track (or album) by any means, but over the decades the song has grown on me a bit. Deffo better than the original, and even though Floor does really well on it and I absolutely adore everything Floor does, the Ann Wilson vocals are just a tick fuller for me; they just complete this song.

I think Ann Wilson's vocals are indelibly stamped on this song whether it was the original or not. It's not my favorite Heart track either, but as far as 80s hair metal ballads go it's kind of the gold standard. I'm not sure it's possible for a vocalist to capture both the power and 3:00 am yearning that Wilson's voice did on their version. To me, after hearing Heart's version every other version seems emotionally sterile.

I think Heart's version is the definitive version of this song. Floor has a great voice, but she is singing it just like Ann Wilson has with Heart for the last 10 years -- she even recreates Ann's ad-libbed scream before the second chorus. I didn't care for Heart's stripped down version of it and I don't care for Floor's carbon copy of Heart's stripped down version. It was written as a rock song/power ballad. I love Floor and I love Heart and appreciate Heart trying to do something different with it and Floor taking it a step further, I just don't think the song is as good as a stripped down torch song.

Floor doesn't do covers... She remakes... Covers are when you try to reproduce the same sound.. I agree, I like the Heart version.. But, If I want to hear the Heart version of this song.. I'll listen to Heart... If I do listen to "Alone" by someone other than Heart, I don't want to hear the Heart version...

1) This is a video. I don't believe she recorded her track sitting. That would make no sense. 2) This is basically the same arrangement and rendition as her and Joost van den Broek's After Forever album version. Joost played the piano here as well. 3) She has also perfomed the song with Nightwish, in a much different arrangement. But she sings it mostly in similar way.
