The "from the basement" version of this song is my favourite version, more intense and sincere and with a fantastic guitar ending

I've never understood why people are so down on the album version. This live one is wonderful and it elevates the song; it's uplifting. The album version is much more intimate and melancholic. I love them both equally, pretty much. But if I had to choose, I'd go for the album version.

The studio version works better in the context of the album. My favourite version is the very first live version at Hammersmith. It was so frantic and energetic.

Pyramid Song from this specific 2006 Bonnaroo set is incredible, probably the best live version. This set is highly regarded to be one of their best live performances.

I saw them in Charlotte on the In Rainbows tour. One of the best concerts I’ve ever seen and I have seen a bunch. One of the greatest bands of all time.

I was at this show too, about 20 yards from the stage. It was absolutely incredible. My friends and I drove down from Pennsylvania a couple weeks after we graduated from high school. It’s still the best live show I’ve ever seen by a long shot. I think about it often. I have the image of Johnny Greenwood playing the guitar while he was pressing keys on the synthesizer with the headstock at the same time during one of the songs burned into my memory.

In thom yorkes solo performances, he taps his foot on the pedal on the beat as a metronome and that really breaks it down.

From what I have heard they will give you the soundboard if you ask for it ( like the Grateful Dead used to do ) they value their fans like the Dead did as well.

I think the band had similar issues with True Love Waits, a song which can be upbeat but in the end was a sombre final song on Moon Shaped Pool.

Probably just me, but I prefer the studio version. I love sleeping to it, especially during depression naps

Apparently they were not satisfied with the studio version at first, Thom Yorke took a break from it. When he came back Nigel Godrich & Jonny Greenwood worked on it, changed the mood and made this "bare bones" (pardon my french but i'm french) version. Yorke was really really pleased with it. So they kept it like that. Maybe they tried too hard to do something different on this one, maybe not. It was their song, their choice, after all. Even if this live version is great, who knows if it would have been right on In Rainbows ?

This version wouldn’t work as well as an album closer, but I do love it. I actually prefer the basement version. Closer to the album version, but richer.
