That rudder concept is brilliant! I made an aluminum rudderhead for my O'Day Daysailer that was somewhat similar, in that the bottom of the head was flush with the bottom of the hull, but it had a vertical pivot bolt slot in it that allowed the stock foil to be all the way down in its design position while sailing, and rotated/slid completely up and out of the water for stern-in anchoring in shallow water. Used the same uphaul/downhaul I used for the stock rudderhead. Looking forward to seeing how this design works for Buddy - I have a sneaking suspicion it will work just fine. And that bowsprit fitting is a work of art!
