Hey thanks for that NOMA, No matter what I turn my hand to I always try to engage with the the audience in some way. These videos are normally filmed the day after a big bike ride and I'm normally shattered by the time I arrive at the river and start to dig big holes and move the rocks about. Before you know it the weekend has ended and it's time to go back to work again !

Thanks for sharing your gold hunting adventures in the British isles. A good part of my ancestry comes from scotland, wales, Ireland and England. Wales being the last injected into my family tree. I would have thought that all the gold would be gone from the thousands of years of prospecting going on. I would use your drone to look for old places the creek used to meander. Use a metal detector to find black sand and then you'll be close to the gold. I don't know what your laws are for prospecting but that's what I would do. Look for old branches of the same Creek, dig a trench from side to side.

Thank you so much for your reply and sharing your thoughts. There are a lot of silly laws in the UK about what you can or can't do and I know what you mean about looking for old river channels. That bit is fascinating in the search for gold. I think over the years (thousands) there has been a lot of gold found by so many people from all the historical periods. As 21st century prospectors, we are pretty good at finding the scraps lol. Personally I think it's a fascinating subject to film .

One trick that might well be worth exploring is a trick a commercial gold miner dreamed up. What he did was take a completely flat plastic surface, and back it with lateral lines of magnetic force, calling the result "cleangold matting". This works like normal mats do, but on a much, much smaller scale so sub-millimetre gold can be recovered. The basic problem is Wales is that of too many people hitting the same resource too hard. I reckon that the best way to hit it would be to design some sort of submersible gold sluice designed to operate only in flood conditions, and to pull water + sediment off the bottom of the river and through the sluice, over that sort of matting using only the Venturi effect for power (which in flood conditions should work). That should harvest gold without tipping the numpties off as to what is happening. To further put off idiots, stick up a few signs declaring the thing to be an experimental heavy metal contamination monitoring system; i.e. the exact truth, told in a highly misleading way.

What a fantastic story to tell there Bernice about the gold from the Klondike. THe colour can vary from location to location my favourite colour gold that looks like deep butter is from the Mennock. Note WANLOCKHEAD gold different Except in Hill above Wanlockhead has a "white gold" most likely platinuim. Note too that gold from different rocks varies considerably. The main ones are when the gold in Orovician gives out and they go to cambrian. The cambrian in wales especially is a very mucky yellow grey caused by addition of tellurium. Ive seen both in Clogau and in the Dolfrinnog mine. The exposure of the upper Dolfrinnog mine landslip in 1986 caused the May salmon run countless deaths of salmon. Until Forestry made a bike race track through remains of the Dolfrinnog mill site you could pan from the remains the distinct off yellow gold.

@MrDazP1adv3ntures
@MrDazP1adv3ntures 3 жыл бұрын
Great question, there was a lot of mining for all kinds of minerals and natural resources that the Romans will have tapped into. For me they probably stayed for longer than they intended to because of the climate and no earth quakes or volcanoes to worry about. I do think they found a lot of gold though that was waiting for them and they had the knowledge.

Very good question the known roman goldmine at Dolaucothi has going past it a main roman road going straight up Wales called Sarn Helen it goes right past the Gwynfynydd goldmine in fact guys say in the face of the GAIN WATERFALL IS A ROMAN HANDCARVED MINE . The romans had surveyers go along the roads to identify any potential minerals. Further up the Gain in a place with massive quartz outcrop is a Roam soldgiers grave plus remains of a tile factory. Easily located as at the site is a Neolithic standing stone reportedly of a stone cast by the giant IDRIS from the hill where he sat down miles away.Sad to say its not been investigated by archeologists of any note or knowledge. They were digging the tile site when i was there. I said about the standing stone the archeoligist said it was a Victorian fake. I said it does not seem that way at all as the tile making building was slopng down at a distinct degrees the stone right alongside was sloping at over twice the angle.(Hill creep)
@Isagorn1

In that bit of the Gain valley i found what i thought was musket balls in the river until I saw a TV prog. Difficulty is the valley at this point can be dangerous as its a ex millitary range with loads of mortar bombs and munitions scattered around.. But the tv prog stated the "lead" balls they were finding on site were roman and used by auxulliarys as easy way to kill locals by slingshot. Just a few miles up is hills which in Welsh were castles of druids so maybe there was a masacre of the Welsh in the valley.?
