Hi-lite is a tool to analyse words in context and to learn their use. It helps you understand not only what individual words mean, but also their grammatical function in sentences, their different forms, and why their form changes.
It displays the part of speech of each word in selected sentences, colour-coded and flagged via icons for ease of use. Depending on the word, it also shows other grammatical information, such as tense, grammatical person, gender, etc.
It can also detect Welsh mutations in selected sentences and provide the grammatical rule governing each mutation.
It can help you expand your vocabulary, improve your writing, and get your head around Welsh grammar usage!

Hi. Thank you for this, it looks great. I added the extension to Chrome, so it now appears on my list of extensions, then went to a Welsh page. When I highlight a sentence, the colored boxes with words show up, but when I click on them nothing happens. I don't get the definition. I clicked on "Download" so I could download a highlighted sentence from the Welsh page and it says, "There is no application set to open the document “Translate .hilite”. Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong? Diolch!

Hello! I'm sorry for this. The colored boxes with words are not supposed to be clicked to show the information. You just need to hover with the mouse over them. You then click the word to loop between the different information cards for the same word. You might also be selecting too many words. The extension needs a little space below the colored boxes to display the information card. Try selecting just 4 or 5 words and test hovering the mouse. The file you can download only works on the extension (if you want to transfer your list of words to someone else or to a different browser/device) or on the hir-iaith website itself, where you can also import your list of words. On the website you can categorise them and listen to their pronunciation: www.hiriaith.cymru/hilite Let me know if this works!
