The whole setup at the WRU is a joke. It now has the ex-head of the heavily slated passport office as it’s Chief Executive 😂😂😂. A career Civil Servant, clueless about the private sector and clueless about sport at any level of management.

As a career Civil Servant myself who has seen mediocrity rise to very well paid jobs, I think your comment has a lot of merit. I think Tierney was a very poor appointment and very much a downgrade from Amanda Blanc.

Pretty much on point !! All the other coaches are also of an age where they may struggle with the current generation of players. Unfortunately gatland a teacher pivac a cop expect total obedience (see sean obriens comments on attitude of gats lions coach). We need to encourage and empower our young players to speak up and question authority. It produces better players, this is one of the down sides to being a predominantly working class sport in wales. Ireland England and Scotland have an inbuilt confidence we often call arrogance. When in truth it comes from being a product od a grammar or private school education. Iv3 Coa he'd and worked in pathways in france and italy and closely studied the Irish and NZ systems. I'm older than gats so it's not so much an age thing as it is an entrenched attitude. It remains to be seen whether or not he can change. I would think his best chance would be to bring in younger dynamic assistant coaches.

Being clear on the regions now, cutting down to two is not exactly possible. Dragons are in private ownership and a company has significant shares in Ospreys that cutting them won’t make a difference (plus Ospreys actually decreased their losses this year). The only regions WRU manage are Cardiff and Scarlets… which says a lot… Now how many of those players in the recent wales teams have you noticed have been from Scarlets and Cardiff? Because it was a significant amount. The WRU are simply not picking from their best region because, they don’t have control over them. So many players in the Ospreys and a few in the dragons deserved team places over Cardiff and Scarlets players. To win games you need a decent team which wales could have. Gatland I do think also needs removing for a coach who understands a more modern competitive game and who is less stubborn in his approach: Adam Jones, Clayton McMillan or Pat Lam perhaps. But more important is the removal of rob howley, the moment he has come in Wales’ attack has shut down and they haven’t won a game all year… I’ll leave it for you to work out
@freddiedavies2333Ай бұрын
Most of this comment is completely incorrect. Cardiff and Scarlets are privately owned entities, much like the Ospreys and (now) the Dragons. The WRU has no extra power in them whatsoever and it's ridiculous to suggest there is any conspiracy in how players are picked.
@Welshman647Ай бұрын
@ it’s not a conspiracy, it’s called politics. And it really isn’t hard to believe when you really look into players form and their relationship with the WRU
@freddiedavies2333Ай бұрын
@ there is quite literally nothing more significant between your average Cardiff/Scarlets player’s relationship with the WRU and that of your average Dragons/Ospreys player. Question individual selection decisions for sure, but there’s no crazy ulterior motive going on.
@l8on17Ай бұрын
Cardiff are 3rd in the URC and Scarlets are 8th while Ospreys is 14th and Dragons 16th. Gatland is picking the talent and the top two regions are the main teams he’s picking from so it makes perfect sense why there’s less from Ospreys and Dragons. Can’t beat a good old conspiracy though, I remember when 13 of the starting side was Ospreys and they won the six nations. Pick the best and stop making things up in your heads
