I get that you have romanticized feelings attached to this from your youth. However, you simply cannot compare the multi-instrumental virtuosity of certain musicians like Prince to a band like this, as talented as they are. It just sounds ignorant and silly. There is no denying that Fleetwood Mac is original, talented, and innovative. Each of them did what they did VERY WELL, but they are hardly virtuosos or proficient on 5,6 7 instruments much less more than 20 instruments. There are STELLAR musicians who play every single instrument on their own records, write the lyrics, arrange the songs, and they have to HIRE people to go on tour with the to play the album live... Tom Scholz Prince Trent Reznor Heck, Tom Scholz BUILT every single recording study every Boston album was ever recorded in and in his own homes, no less. He wrote and played EVERYTHING HIMSELF and hired the vocalist to sing it on the recordings where he played every instrument. Prince could play 21 instruments very well, and is considered the greatest guitar player by Eric Clapton (and many other guitarists). I can't even begin to explain how good Trent Reznor is, but he's such an accomplished composer and arranger that he has been hired to do the soundtrack of several movies. He is also a MULTI instrumentalist, writing ALL of his own lyrics, all of his own arrangements, and playing all of the instruments on his recordings. Fleetwood Mac is good at what each of them do. Christie McVie was the most talented of all of them because she was RAISED as a musician from early childhood. There is no denying that Fleetwood Mac was so very original...so cool...and truly unique (and I rarely use the word unique). They are far from the best band ever.

I guess when Stevie Nicks and Don Henley were dating in the 70s she got pregnant. Don Henley said in an interview that she had an abortion. She recently stated that indeed she had an abortion. She wanted the baby but that was when Fleetwood Mac were getting really big and she felt that she couldn't have that type of career and raise a child at that time. She said she was doing a lot of drugs as well. She said if that baby was a girl she would have named her Sara. The song was a tribute to her baby.

I was in high school when this came out. I remember how crazy layered & lush it was and just TOTALLY unexpected from Fleetwood Mac! I was addicted to this song from first listen, and still am today! I saw them back then, GREAT show. Then saw them again Burnett...and Vito I think. Nowhere near as good. Then we waited backstage for a LONG time. It was the final show of the tour. The members all came out singly. By the time they left it was really late & there were like 7-8 people left. John McVie was quietly polite & friendly. Fleetwood was like Rodney Dangefield LOL! ENDLESS one liners as he came to the fence to talk to us then wishing us all a "Happy Christmas". Stevie Nicks was HIDEOUS! A small handful of us, and she covered her head and ran for her limo, boytoy in tow. The lady cop there had some hilarious observations of her LOL! We all just thought her a.."B-Word"...at best, ESPECIALLY when her boy toy re-emerged with a concert guide she's signed, offering it for like 80 bucks! Yeah, literally, people told him to fuck off LOL! FINALLY CHRISTINE MCVIE came! She was like your aunt or something...TOTAL SWEETHEART! She looked shocked, pulled her coat around her & came up to the fence. "WHAT are you all doing?! It's horribly cold out here, what's wrong with you? You're all going to go home, get sick, and I'll feel simply AWFUL!!" Here she LITERALLY stamped her foot at us. "Now go home! God bless you all and thank you so much for coming out tonight my loves...But GO HOME RIGHT THIS INSTANT! Go drink some cocoa and warm up!" Christine's always held a special place in my heart since!

Stevie got pregnant by Don Henley ( singer for the Eagles) She had to have an abortion and its very sad. She's singing about all she "ever wanted, no sorrowful, sorrow"

"Poet, priest of nothing..." "Has anybody ever written anything for you"?-Stevie Nicks, from her 1980 Belladonna Album...these sentiments, including those in this song, " Sara, you are the poet in my heart. Never change and never stop" should run concurrently.

I've met my match, he was singing...and just then Lindsey steps into the light haha

Because he had to sing the harmony with Christine for craps sake. It didn't mean anything.
@muffin63696 жыл бұрын
@Jenny Persson ''Great dark wing'' = Mick, ''Met my match'' /''Undoing the laces'' = Lindsey & Henley, ''When you build your house'' = Henley and of course..... ''SARA'' = Sara (Recor) Fleetwood and Stevie herself!
@muffin63696 жыл бұрын
Also the intro ''Never told me 'bout the fire'' = Mick.

@Benjamin Vieira Oh puhleese I have to read time after time how even when she was wandering around the stage singing offkey "Stevie Fiends" will NEVER say a bad word.
@angelabaiers50553 жыл бұрын
@@muffin6369 this song is entirely about Stevie's secret affair with Mick Fleetwood. Sara Fleetwood was Stevie's friend that married Mick.

Peut -être un peu trop " intimiste " ? Je préffére " MIRAGE TOUR " , plus " dynamique " et plus " joyeuse " " RUMOURS TOUR " un peu trop " rock" 🎤🎧🎚️👠🎸🎸

To think they could "throw" this version away in rehearsal, knowing there was another level they might be able to reach. Amazing.
