As a child in the 1960s, I learnt my electrics from the Ladybird Book "Magnets, Bulbs and Batteries" (frequently seen on Ebay). Enough info to get you experimenting with cheap bits and pieces (all found in Woolworths), building circuits rather like you build/dismantle Meccano models. In fact, my idea to use paperclips as connectors in the Sequencer was taken directly from the Ladybird Book: Paperclips were the suggested method of connecting to brass strip terminals on old bike light batteries!
