Fantastic beach, loads of entertainment galore. But needs Constance updateing, council doing good things, and a few mistakes. Come and enjoy it, BOOK NOW.
@MrBozack11 ай бұрын
I appreciate the tourism pitch but, these leisure facilities are priced out of most of the locals' budget The new pool's admission fee is over double. The outer harbour that doesn't benefit the average local? Damp council houses, if you're one of the lucky ones. Instrument wielding teenagers robbing everything on wheels in Gorleston and Caister. All of this with a healthcare system rivalling a teddy bear's picnic in organisation skills. Meanwhile there's lots of new and shiny cars parked outside the Town Hall. In fairness, the council do provide employment to over 10000000 gardeners just not that many cleaners.....

Ermmm I don't know about Gorleston, it's fairly rough in areas, but Caister? I live there and have never seen roving gangs of tooled up kids. The worst you get is occasionally a group of teenagers hanging around outside of COOP, but what village hasn't got a shop where bored kids congregate at?

Biggest thing Great Yarmouth council could do would be to try and funnel more of their limited resources into ensuring a core part of it remains attractive in the way Southend clearly has. I love the norfolk coast but the bigger coastal places that are and were aimed at family's and kids for caravan seaside holidays have been neglected, the small coastal villages their is nothing like it norfolk is a gem, even old Hunstanton has its charm, wells, Snettisham, a coastal drive through them all and you will see the best, those little villages are more expensive and more geared to elders so family's most likely wouldn't find them attractive as cheap meals what kids like aren't really available.

Great Yarmouth has a wonderful beach, pier and promenade. It is let down by a lack of original shops and, not to be unkind, substandard accommodation. People's expectations are higher nowadays but if you are going to pay £60 a night for a room then you shouldn't have mismatched furniture and an outdated bathroom in your hotel room. Local businesses struggle because the council does not invest sufficiently in the town to make it a desirable destination. But I still visit every year because I love the sea and I know these businesses need our custom. Fish and chips are fabulous and there is also a great Vietnamese restaurant. Great Yarmouth could be an absolute jewel.

Loved going there as a kid in the 90,s in caister at haven. The last time I was there is was a lot different. But I suppose it's difficult for any seaside town. As there all seasonal.... loved the winter gardens! It was mint!

Busy in the summer as all UK seaside towns are. It doesn't help that school children can only be taken to these places during holidays since heavy fines are put in place otherwise.

Went to Great Yarmouth a couple of years ago. I re-visited my childhood by riding repeatedly on the Scenic Railway . I used to ride the one in Barry (of Gavin and Stacey fame) which was a replica of the one in G Yarmouth, but it had to be dismantled after severe storm damage.

I'd be interested to see you do one of these in a well loved seaside town. I know the point it to detail deteriarion, but I think it would still be interesting. I live around the coast in Cromer. Sure, it's a little shabby in parts, but even on a drab winter Monday, it's still very busy with a constant through flow of people. I would imagine quizing the locals here would garner a very different response to the responses around Yarmouth.

I have lived in Yarmouth for about 3 years now. Love the history of the town (every street seems to have a blue plaque) shame that many of the inhabitants seem unaware of that history and you look at pictures of the town in its heyday and think "what happened?" That said, the locals are all nice, some are a bit rough around the edges but you can hardly blame them for what is the result of years of neglect from politicans etc The sea front is still lovely to walk down (though I tend to walk away from the "golden mile" with all the tacky amusement arcades) and in summer I can think of nowhere else I would rather be, the town really comes to life, fireworks every Wednesday evening, events during the day, the town full of holidaymakers
@goodoldtoasty2239 ай бұрын
Sorry to be the breaker of bad news. This year the fireworks in Hemsby and Yarmouth will not be going on unfortunately. The organisation that delivers those firework displays has moved its biggest event of the year to may and everyone involved will be busy organising that.

I live not far from Gt Yarmouth, in Norwich. It’s really not as bad as made out in this video. The clientele isn’t the best. It does have a reputation amongst us Norfolkers for being a bit downmarket, it is a typical run down seaside town but it’s a good laugh for a day out. And they have put a lot of money into rejuvenating the town centre. It’s far from Knightsbridge, but it’s also far from the odious, baron monstrosity being portrayed in this video
