"The Day You Went Away" was one of the first songs I ever performed as a vocalist wheni was 17yo... it was the ONLY show my Nanna got to see, and it was not even 2.5-3 months after my Pa, her husband, had passed away... And it was because of them I ever got to know and learn music. The pianist in my music course wanted me to do it with her, and as someone who'd been in love with Stnading Strong(i'm a 1986 baby... wasn't even INTO music when Standing Strong was released...), Beloved and this song since... BEFORE I could remember/find 'Standing Strong' again 20 odd years later... Being told my Nanna cried during this song, at that time... knowing that at that concert i did a guitar/vocal performance... This song & name (Wendy Matthews) will forever make me remember how grateful I am to my Nanna and Pa... and how Nanna got to see & hear what they created in me(as a musician)... But Pa died before he did.
