👏👏👏. Always impressed by someone willing to go to the very start of the Sleep Token discography. They were great then and haven’t strayed from their style.

You will not regret going back to the start and making your way to Euclid. For me personally it was a healing trip like no other.

Yes!!! You did it. Even though I don't think you liked it much it's the beginning of a whole complete story that is so beautiful. Please keep going there is a pay off I promise

The lore, the shadow in the middle of the candles, the offerings of an apple( Eden theme) the trading of a heart....the whole story line is wild.

You can tell they started out as a much more niche sound and adopted more mainstream elements as they evolved.

Its cool you went all the way back. EPs I and II are pretty neet. They're definitely still figuring out what there sound is. You can hear hints of things that are recognizable in the later stuff. And you can hear some of the influences too. I always felt that thread the needle had a deftones kind of vibe.

Ahh thanks for going back to the beginning and starting this journey. If this was the first ST song I heard, I don’t think I’d be into this band. But after listening to their whole discography, I appreciate this song so much and it has grown on me. My interpretation of this song is that it’s sung from Sleep’s perspective and he’s luring Vessel into his clutches. The videos imagery is suggesting that Vessel is being born. The change to darker tone halfway through the song gives you a sense of foreboding, like something bad is about to happen. My belief in the lore is that Vessel’s past lover died. And even though they had an abusive,, toxic relationship, her dying messed him up. He worships Sleep because He gives him good dreams. Ones where Vessel gets to re-live his relationship. In return, Sleep wants to be worshipped and… I guess eats Vessel’s flesh (v0reaphilia is a theme throughout the music and was a common way to show dominance with the Gods. The whole eating flesh thing is a metaphor for his previous relationship. You let someone eat enough of your flesh, you’ll lose yourself completely.

The lead singer of Sleep Token is a Tool fan! some of his pre-sleep token stuff from 2010-13 has some Tool covers. There is a live performance he did of a Tool song and its so fucking good.

Socially from my understanding threading the needle means navigating your way through a conflict not sure id thay helps here but it does make sense with the theme of most of vessels lyrics beinf abour a toxic relationship.. however this is my opinion ❤

To be fair, I think Sleep token is a bit of an acquired taste. Especially their earlier stuff. Great music but you either need to give it time to grow on you, or you need to be in the mood. Personally this song has grown on me. While not my favorite, it's solid. I think the Bible quote you are thinking of is, "It is easier for a rich man to go through an eye of a needle then to go to heaven."
