been using the wera laser etched and heavy duty set for a couple months now and love them! the ergonomics and extra traction it provides puts them ahead of the other brands imo.

I have Both of these sets. The Klein feel comfortable and sturdy in the hand but during extended use I found them uncomfortable. The tip on my #2 phillips also showed some interesting wear after only a few uses. The Wera didn’t feel as comfortable just holding it but when using them they were way better than Klein. The laser etched tip is the bomb and they didn’t show premature wear like my Klein did. I strongly support the opinion given in this video.

I have both Wera and Klein screwdrivers, TBH the Wera doesn't feel as nice as Klein in the hand. Out of all the screwdrivers I own, Tekton feels the best, gives the most torque if we're only talking about handles and grip.

I've used Wiha in the past which also had insulated shafts which at times prevented me from reaching fasteners - torquing screws between the slots of some types of combination and ground fault circuit breakers, etc. I also found the shaft to grip transition was shaped such that they sat on top of pouch loops instead of riding inside them. The phillips heads also appeared to be shaped differently - slightly longer, like they were designed for automotive fasteners (?) I often encountered less than perfect "fit". Unfortunate, they are much more comfortable in use. Thanks for these reviews, good work!

The Wera Robertson or square drive screwdriver is one of the few sq drive screwdrivers on the market that will pretty well work with anything square. This driver format was once great but is now so polluted with imprecise knock offs that many screws simply fall off the screwdriver, a previously unthinkable event only 20 years ago when the market was only NA.

Nice review. I've been doing research on different brands of screwdrivers because I'm tired of spending my money on klein screwdrivers whose tips end up breaking from normal usage (I don't use them as pry bars or chisels). My question for you, especially after seeing the date on this video is, how have the tips held up? have they chipped or broken? anything happen to the handles from wear and tear? I would greatly appreciate it if you could answer my questions even though this video is a little older. Also, it's surprising to see such a big price difference between klein and wera up there in Canada. They're in the same price range here with wera being a little more expensive if you're buying them just one at a time.

Hi Nick, are the Wera screrwdrivers magnetic at all? Also, I'd like to see Wiha, Felo and Witte brands reviewed. Thanks.

The black and yellow ones have a through handle blade I believe. Wera also do a stainless steel version for harsh environments. I order a set every time I go to a new ship if they don't already have them.

I wanted a set of Klein I’ve heard their just “the” screwdrivers, but the warranty, as you said it’s just a screwdriver and they will wear out, for the $99 price point I picked up a set of Snap On with a lifetime warranty, if the Klein had a lifetime warranty I could see the premium price

Apples and Oranges.... why compare screwdrivers designed for different use? especially when talking price. May as well compare a-brand spanner set with b-brand socket set.
@fraserhenderson78397 жыл бұрын
Klein tools are aimed at and are very popular with electricians. These Wera screwdrivers are electrically insulated and are definitely for electrical use. Their purpose is the same, driving screws. Neither brand is "cheap". This is a valid apples and apples comparison.
@adamaj747 жыл бұрын
Especially considering the Wera are better AND cheaper.
@BellySyrup6 жыл бұрын
Then why not compare insulated kleins vs insulated wira, OR regular/non-ins klein vs regular/non-ins wira? Apples to apples, Oranges to oranges.
@joshdunnick60656 жыл бұрын
Stephan Conzen he did. As mentioned, the insulated Kleins are much more expensive and the construction is the same minus insulation properties. Klein is vastly over rated with electricians, and their quality has taken a dive lately. German brands like Wera and Knipex are my go tos for quality daily professional use.

I traded my snap on screwdrivers for a set of klein and i will never go back to snap on screwdrivers. Let alone at home depot you can buy klein for 9.50 for screwdrivers. Not to mention the klein is made in the usa and the wera comfort is made in Czech republic
@stockloc9 жыл бұрын
bb4jdmlude Who cares where it's made? Fact is, Wera gives you more bang for your buck. I like Kleins too but I think they use 'Made in the USA' to give customers the illusion that the dollar-to-quality ratio is good.

I have sets from SK, Wera, and Klein. I have no bias against the brands, but some are better than others depending on the job at hand. For example I love my Wera screwdrivers for working on older rusty parts on cars.

Klein is best for working in the U.S. If anything happens to a Klein we can go to the parts house and exchange them.

I think Wera is the best brand in the world when it comes too screwdrivers. They are a little bit soft in the metal. But i think that is better then beeing to hard. Then it can break more easily.../Decaf

You should look into Beta tools since your into quality and ergonomics. There a little hard to get in North America but are totally worth it. Amazon use to sell them and still have some selection.

Beta tools look really nice! Thanks for feeding my tool addiction ;). Diverse product line! How do these tools hold up over time?
@brianhilligoss11 жыл бұрын
Nick Sek They hold up great, I have to full sets of the screw drivers and only broke one, using a small flathead as a pry bar so thats my fault. I also have there metric 3/8 socket and ratchet combo and the 1/2 combo and they have to be the nicest grip and fine geared ratchet I have ever used. The hex wrench set is made from tool steel and show no wear at all. And the box end wrenches are great, but there are better ergonomic ones out there now compared to the ones i have, but the new ones look to be far better.

brian hilligoss how funny is that screwdrivers are the universal I can make it work... I do this all the time, just way to convenient. You got me really interguied with this brand, I hopefully can get them to send me some samples to test!

I love both brands. The Wera handle is great for holding.....but your hand does not actually make that shape when turning a driver. I find them awkward for most real world jobs. I will admit...they feel super nice HOLDING them. For use....I go to my Klein or Wiha every time. I recently purchased a set of Felo wood handled drivers and they are slowly becoming my number one's. I will hold on to my Wera because the tips rule and they looks awesome. Hahahaha.

I've never had to replace any of my Klein tools at my expense, because they are lifetime warranted, so I either carry them back to my supply house or cinnamon to Klein and they send me a new one. That's why I buy them over other brands not so much because of other features. Sort of a buy once,cry once mentality. I don't believe the warranty covers abuse though, if you're hitting the back of them with a hammer to knock out boxes,chip concrete,or whatever... they're not going to cover that they only cover when you break the tip because you were turning a screw in it broke off, or when the handle disintegrated because of hard use. I can tell you I've traded in many #2 Phillips and Robertson Drive for replacement.
@mauiboy0119 жыл бұрын
Wera looks great but one drawback is that they are not labeled at the end of the screwdrivers. The Kleins are all marked. Any screwdriver sitting in a pouch needs to be marked for easy identification. I'm perplexed as to why Wera or Wiha does not mark their tools.
@unnainconnu90989 жыл бұрын
Joseph Higa They are actually, except for the Kraftform Classic and Kraftform Classic VDE which are budget lines.

Wera screwdrivers have an indication on the top of the handle showing what the blade is so you are talking bollocks or you have bought knock offs

Laser etching is just a gimmick. It wears off after a month. Still, Wera is of a good quality, but I prefer PB Swiss and Wiha
@Marcel_Germann6 жыл бұрын
Noticed that too, but only on the slotted screwdrivers. On my Phillips and Pozidriv screwdrivers it's still holding up. And PB Swiss, former PB Baumann, are very good. But they're very expensive. Got a new set of insulated PB Swiss screwdrivers here.
