he literally has the highest points per minute played in NBA history. he can score from inside, midrange and shoot the 3 and he gets to the foul line more than anyone else and hits them at a high rate. on top of that he's one of the best defensive players in the league as well. and he didn't start playing organized basketball until he was 16. he has gotten better every season and hopefully the sixers can put the right team around him this season to make a deep playoff run as that's the only thing he hasn't done.

Embiid is, in fact, massive. He's 7'0 285lbs. So when you said he gets places on the court with fewer steps you are literally correct, he's like Antetokounmpo in that regard. It might have been Thinking Basketball who said he's basically a 300lb guard because his offensive game is so well-rounded

Embiid is one of the best in the game right now but he often plays poorly during the playoffs and it's a shame because he's too good to play like that almost every postseason. Also if you guys like the way Embiid moves you should check out Hakeem Olajuwon he has best footwork in NBA history and he was a big man who inspired a lot of the bigs in the league today

Don't bias someone from another country without context. He has been injured during these performances that weren't up to his standards. He was injured on multiple occasions and was playing when others may have sat out. Last year he played with a grade 2 PCL sprain that requires 4-6 week recovery and he came back after 10 days. The year before he played with a broken orbital socket and a torn ligament in his shooting hand. Multiple years in the playoffs and multiple injuries. If he just didn't play he would get less hate but since he tried to play through the injuries he is getting judged by you like he was healthy at the time.

He almost quit on becoming a basketball player a couple of times. Right before moving to the US to pursue basketball his little brother was killed in a car accident. After that happened, he told his parents that he didn't want to go, he didn't want to leave them. They made him go. The second time was one of his first practices for the Kansas Jayhawks. He was guarding a Senior transfer named Tarik Black who would play a couple of years in the NBA himself. Tarik dunked the ball on Joel. After practice Embiid went to head coach Bill Self and said that he was quitting. Being dunked on like that had discouraged him so much. Self told Embiid that he would eventually be a starter at Kansas and by the time he left Kansas he would be a number 1 draft pick.

There is a really good story about when Kansas started recruiting Joel to come to the University of Kansas to play basketball. One of the assistant coaches for Kansas saw Embiid play a game in high school and called head coach Bill Self, who is one of the best if not the best college head coach in the country. The assistant coach told Self you need to get down here and see this kid. Coach Self went to one of Embiid's games shortly thereafter with the assistant coach that had seen Embiid play first. During the game Self didn't say a word, he just watched. After the game the assistant and Self got into their car and were driving to the airport or the hotel they were staying at that night and still Self hadn't said anything. The assistant actually thought Self was angry, he didn't like Embiid and that the assistant had wasted his time. Finally, after a long time the assistant couldn't take the silence anymore and asked, "So coach what did you think?" Self replied, "Get him."

The nickname The Process happened organically from a tweet he made before his NBA debut, but I refer to him as The Prodigy. He only really started playing organized basketball when he was around 15 or 16 years old. In two to three years, he got a scholarship to play for one of, if not the best college basketball program in the country, the University of Kansas Jayhawks. He only played one shortened season at Kansas due to injury, and he was still drafted 3rd overall in the NBA draft. He would've been drafted 1st overall, but he had broken a bone in his foot that would require to miss at least a year. He has become a multiple time All-Star and an NBA MVP.

He's the closest thing we have today to a Shaq in terms of body build, he can shoot mid range, threes, and free throws which is why he has been so successful in the modern NBA, however he often struggles in the playoffs due to multiple reasons, whether its injuries, not being aggressive and taking important shots in the clutch, faltering mentality, etc.. He's a quality player and is once again contending for the MVP award this year, but people are hesitant to put him in all-time great conversations unless he pulls together a dominant playoff run.

The sixers gave him role players finally so hopefully he does something this year. Ben Simmons in 2019 against the hawks would not even take wide open layups and he was their second best player he averaged 5 ppg in that series. Embiid averaged 30 and 12. Next year he had a torn meniscus and still played and still had 23 ppg. Next year he had a broken orbital bone and a torn ligament in his thumb and still had 20 a game. I mean what more can you even ask of him. He plays through injuries guys like kawhi,pg, kyrie,kd and many other players have sat out with in the playoffs.

Embiid is best big man in the NBA not name Nikola Jokic and the best classic, power big man in the league, BUT... it's hard to take him completely seriously as he has a tendency to disappear in the playoffs and/or have his soul owned by old man, off the bench Al Horford. Granted it's only really happened twice (Horford), but those two times have come in the last three times they've played (Game 7 of last year's playoffs and last Friday night). You can see video of it. Because more than any other game aside from the pitcher/batter matchup in baseball, basketball has the most one on one matchups in team sports... There's a lot of ego, pride, and machismo... a player as young and as skilled as Embiid should eat someone like Al Horford for breakfast, but that doesn't happen... in fact the opposite happened...multiple times. If Embiid doesn't win some titles, he's going to get compared to Patrick Ewing, a Hall Of Fame center, who could never quite get it done in the playoffs.

The NBA MVP is a popularity contest anymore. Although both embiid and jokic were deserving of the award, jokic has won it a couple times in a row, and so what ends up happening is "voter fatigue". This has happened before where previous consecutive MVP winners don't get the award because voters want someone else who is also deserving to win it. The truth is either one of them could have been the MVP and it would be completely justified. This year was just embiids turn.
