Were Delves The Answer?

As a solo player who doesn’t want anything on a schedule and not having any pressure I really enjoy doing them between collecting transmog or mount farming. I also missed all of dragon flight and half of shadowlands so to me it’s a breath of fresh air and really fun compared to being a solo player back then. That said I definitely want they to build on them a lot more, I wish I could pick from my companions from WoD or Legion to run through the delves with as well.

Yep feel the same, delves need something added to make it more compelling single player content. Like make delves somewhere you want to go to test out new gear, talent builds, off-spec etc

I absolutely love delves! For me, it mostly comes in clutch for playing alts. Normally, all of my other characters basically fall off a cliff at the start of the expac and usually can only get "good" gear once the expansion progresses and catch up gear becomes available. I'm also a tad weird, in that I like to do comparative playthroughs with different characters in each delve. See what kind of tricks each class can pull off to get through it or defeat difficult enemies (I blame GW2 for me being this way). That said, however, it would be nice to have more variety. More power-ups, move enemy variety and, of course, more delves (which I'm sure we'll get more as time goes on). I will say that I hope they don't go too crazy with power-ups if stronger ones are added. Back in torghast, with my alternate characters, I found certain runs at higher difficulties could be botched if you didn't get the "right" powers or you got them too late (i.e. powers that grew per level, etc). Blizzard will attempt to balance everything they put in the game, so I wouldn't want them to put something in there that we're "supposed" to find to complete the delve.

I'm sorry, do you not like getting the same 3-4 powers in every delve? One of them being a garbage heal every time you jump, but getting double jump which allows you access to new unexplored areas...oh wait just double jump and the rest just being "random chance to do x on hit!"

horrific visions was a freaking blast I felt at the time. You felt like you would actively progress and become strong as your cloak scaled up allow you to make it more challenging as well. Most of the time wasn't based around how well you could get white attacked (generally) but how well you could do the mechanics. Once a week you got an item that was only a couple levels short mythic gear and it wasn't for all slots which didn't make it remove the value of gearing in other content as well. This also made it great for alts which is how I used it. Level a new toon spend a month causally doing a weekly vision then when I had some down time and wanted to maybe try out the character in mythic plus I wasn't so far behind it was a darning to think about. A lot of the delves are not very interesting mechanically and the gear feels really off. Hero gear feels like it is in a pretty lame place this season. Also not being able get any high crest mean it feels pretty lame as a side thing I do for my alts I may want to play some day if I get bored. Don't really know how they could get back that magic I felt for visions but hope they can get it there someday.

For me id like delves way more if there was some cool transmogs you could farm like from island expeditions. Also, not every content need to be based on combat, they could add puzzles from old world quests to open vaults or some miniboss with fun dodge mechanics where your gear doesnt matter as much. Everything in this expansion just feels rushed. Like they had the template but never got too deep to make it fun. It just feels like theyre rushing us through the patches to get us to buy the next expansion and so on.

Delves are a great way to level fresh characters, but at this point in the patch you can do maybe 4-5, run the raid on Normal and Heroic and you're basically set. You'll never have to do another Delve again unless you've got a ridiciculously good trinket in there worth grabbing. I think they're pretty good, however there's a distinct lack of rewards - hell, I'd even have appriciated a 1% drop chance on a mount from Bountiful Delves to make it feel worthwhile. They need to do away with the gimmicks like underwater and candlelight stuff, though. That stuff is dreadful!

They can’t offer bad players anything more than the kitty table that they had to put Epix in delves at all pissed Ian off. And they can’t make it actually difficult because it would expose that most of the MP community is getting carried by a very small section of it

Yeah the lacking of torghast like abilities is baffling to me. Like you don’t even need to really make them balanced make them fun. What the heck is waking the machine is supposed to be? I jumped into this expac late and it just there and super easy to do and boring?

Progression is and was in a bad place for a LONG time now, at the begining you are thrown a lot of gear for no reason, then they want you to join large groups for mythic or raids as another job, or join most likely toxic groups randomly. So they still not serious enough about non mythic and raids content.

Damm every expansion it's the samenole thing I don't like a thing so no one else should be able to do it. Tbh if delves weren't in the game I'd have only pvp gear because I refuse to play toxic m+ and no desire to do raids.

My issue with delves is how unrewarding they feel to do. Which is ironic because the rumor has it they're nerfing the rewards. I might unsubscribe and not come back untill next expansion. I like the idea, but as a casual who's not going to do mythics you really need something that is going to keep me wanting to play and not groaning because rng luck is determinant to my enjoyment. That's my two cents.

Yep, I’m not going back to m+, ever. My next move is unsubbing. Make delves harder and make the rewards better. I don’t even care if delves for mythic gear are so difficult they are nearly impossible. At least it’s not “die once, person leaves, group disbands, key downgraded” levels of awful.

I mean, what do you expect for solo content? It’s easy champion and hero track progression. Do you expect myth track gear from easy content? Delves right now are perfect for an alt that’s starting in the 580 range to get into mythic+

@MikeyJ232 it's just that you or at least I, when doing them, seem to gas out before the supposed item cap. I've done it on two characters now, and it's a stuggle to get to 600. Let alone full 616. I just want to progress and not plateau. I know it will eventually happen, but it always seems like it starts too early, and there's this gap of progress. Also, rng loot sucks. Rng is fine, dopamine. Yay! But when you run 13 tier 8s and you get no upgrades for the second week in a row, you start to hate the system. I'd rather have one of the 95 currencies I'm collecting be able to buy me set gear of a certain item level, preferably above 600. Or the ability to upgrade gear to the next track. Why can't I upgrade veteran to champion? Champion to hero? This system is shite.

@ I agree with you that the RNG feels bad with how big the pool of loot is. I’ve been farming a 616 Knife trinket on my DK every week and have just about everything but the knife. But once you reach that point where you only need 1 or 2 specific pieces, you aren’t necessarily the target ilvl for Delves anymore. Imo Delves are perfect for fresh alts around the 580-595 range where everything that drops is an upgrade. It’s also supplemental content, you can do 4 each week with your four free keys from the Undermine vendor just for 616 vault slots and drip feed your alts into hero track.

I disagree. Delves might need a few tweaks, but they've made gear and other content easier to access for more players than ever. As evidenced by the number of subs for TWW in the first three months. This is a bad take of a m+ sweatie.

I've never disliked anything as much as delves. It's so unbelievably boring and unrewarding. Early in the xpack, before m+ came out...instead of doing delves, I logged off the game. Every time I went into one, it sucked so much I became angry. Delves are aggressively horrible. Insufferable content.

That’s how I feel about m+ and I’m sure that’s why delves exist. m+ is so a horrendous game mode that people in other MMOs who have never even played WoW know how awful it is. It’s legendarily bad.

Huh? Unrewarding? Delves are easy solo content that get you champion/hero track and 616 vault with very little effort. The fact that you can basically spam them with keys every week means you can skip most of the lower level m+ content. They aren’t just solo content either, you can run them with premades and every few delves you’ll get a map for a free piece of hero track. It’s far more rewarding than m+ aside from the crests.

No. Mandatory +8. Anything below that is throwing your time to the wind. But the +8 have gear checks. So the moment you have enough gear to do a +8 , you no longer need any gear from that +8. Its a bad system,

Surely +8's are still good when you're getting champion rewards kekw. Delves sure need some work, but it does sound like you're not playing them right. edit: Granted you're a dps or tank. This is just not correct whatsoever. +8s give 616 hero in your vault and guaranteed 603. I was spamming +8s solo on my Hunter at 585 with very little trouble, 1-2 deaths per run early on but if you take them slow you are in no danger.

vault is 1 per week, and you can get decent from m+ or raid. you can do it below 580, but that's not the intended way, and it works for some classes.
