@@jordanrayo2425 bruh, I'm not saying Sony is perfect. In fact, if anything, it's a love/hate relationship (almost like some irl cases). However, it's the full set that makes it special: like you said, top of the line CPU/GPU along with all the specs possible: 4k screen, headphone jack, sd card slot, big battery, manual camera controls, and the list goes on while having a solid stock Android ROM. It is indeed very expensive, and they're so stubborn for not shipping the big sensors that they make, and they support the devices for 2/3 years (although updates are monthly and right on schedule). But there aren't any real flaws or lack of features, the cons you have on other devices are usually from personal preference like pic/video processing, fav skin, AI features, etc. So, I'd rather rock Sony all day, no bs or services attached to them, and you actually feel like the owner of a product.

Newer phones are Harder to repair Harder to Replace Break Easier Remove features we liked Removed headphone jack Removed expandable storage Removing physical sim Removing accessories from the box for "environmental reasons" then proceed to sell them to you in separately in a separate box for a *seperate* price Price getting higher Ecosystems becoming more closed in Ability to modify software is going down More bloatware Harder to replace battery This isn't to say that phones haven't gotten better we have better ui, better software support, more apps, better batteries, better cameras, better screens, and many cool new features. But there are many things that companies have taken away from us for no good reasons. It comes down to companies changing things to be more profitable. Companies such as LG who tried to be different and give something good to their customers just couldn't compete with some of the bigger players, so sadly LG has departed from the smartphone market. At least LG tried to experiment with different things like pop-up cameras, a curved phone, and a couple different swivel phones that had with the VX9400 and the Wing. Of course the Nokia phones were built like a tank in terms of durability and even the BlackBerry phones and early iPhones were designed to take a lot of hits too. When it comes to major groundbreaking innovation, I don’t think there’s a whole lot more room for it unless we start having 8K cameras, 12K, or maybe up to 16K one day. Otherwise, I think it would take some extravagant like holographic phones or something to where battery lives last to a week on a single charge. Energizer actually did once make a phone too and while it was super bulky like a brick phone, one single charge on it lasted for 50 days so if one were to play their cards right and have the phone not too big or bulky then something like that is possible.

My take on the iPhone 7 that have no headphone jack trend was to introduce the Airpods to the public. It was a game changer in wireless that were clumsy. But they create a problem that didn't exist, and creating A LOT of e-waste, a dualism of Apple that they were tree hugging company or environmentally friendly But iPod Nanos are super thin than a iPhone but have a headphone jack. But Android companies suck nowdays, they choose to follow Apple trend. Now im dealing buying USB-C DACs to drive my mid range wired IEMs. They broke 2 to 3 yrs in my normal usage then change again, even they have a silver cable into it and drive mid to high end in phone with no issue. LG used to introduce Quad DAC. Samsung in S10 series have headphone jack and SD card but Samsung nowdays choose to licking Apple nuts because Apple is a trend setter and every people wants a iPhone Android clone design, removing a charger? Apple did it first. Apple tend to be a electronics company but now in my opinion, Apple is a marketing company now where people buy products because it's a luxury symbol. And have a solid cult buying iPhone, audience that they sell iPhones tend to follow Kim Kardashian 😂 My balance take of this that we hit the peak of smartphone trend, it's sad to say that even SD card support they remove it (because it was slower than the internal storage UFS) headphones jack remove but sell wireless earphones because the average consumer wants it too. Removable battery didn't care as much because they tend to have more space than non removable one, the balance approach here is to be reparable friendly

I still have my Nokia 808 pureview, best phone in the entire universe. I was so sad when the battery finally died after 9 YEARS of use, alongside other problems like no GPS or app updates. If they still made.quality battery replacements and it still had app updates I'd probably use it till I died. Lol Now I have a LG G8 I imported from korea, so it has an extra camera. Great phone, specially in the headphone audio department, but the 808 was better in every other aspect. lol

About "phones getting more powerful for no reason" - there's a reason, and that's an emulation! But this still partially true, because we already had SD8 Gen 3 which is powerful enough for Switch, PS2, windows games emulation and one thing holding this back is not a power, it's a software. So we need to get more raw power to overcome emulator issues, or make better emulators
@Techsnowball2 күн бұрын
you could argue that the winlator (windows emulator) is using the power, but its such a niche scenario, 90% of people wont even use that app

And that's like 0.0001% of users. Great reasoning, mate.

Yep I totally be open to going back to the Nokia design where we had polycarbonate and you didn't even need a case with those phones I had to Nokia 620 the 920 and the 1520... And because the color was all the way through even if it got scratched couldn't even see the scratch hardly so much better design

Because of influence of iPhone, just think about it, all android brands innovating and doing hard work to provide new innovations and best features but apple have best marketing and selling phones without innovation getting high margin so that now other companies also focusing on making profit only and results innovation gone

Theres also powerful cheap phones like the nord 4 with its 7+gen3 wich is nearly as powerful as 8gen2. And its only 300-400€ and the rest of the phone is also good with the smooth oxygen os , an 120hz bright oled display, very mid cameras, very fast charging, and very premium design with metal back and frame wich also helps with heat.
