We are amazed that you still have a Mars Hydro lamp from 10 years ago and that it's still functioning-what a surprise! LED technology has advanced significantly over the years. The performance of LEDs from a decade ago was limited due to the technology and expertise available at the time. As the industry evolved, so did we. We have continuously progressed, and today, we offer even better products. We Mars Hydro are committed to staying at the forefront of technology, using advanced innovations and professional expertise to develop superior products. Thank you for being a part of our journey, and we look forward to bringing growers even more cutting-edge solutions in the future.

This was fun! I still have the Mars Hydro booklet for the TS600. I bought it 3+ years ago because in their booklet and on the website, it said, and I quote, "Replaces a 600w HPS bulb" I tried growing 4 plants under it and they were so thin, after a watering, they would lay down on the floor for a bit before they could lift themselves up again. I kid you not, Shane, I can post the pictures in the Migro Discord, IT....WAS.....HILARIOUS 😂😂 I still have and use that light; for seedlings.

I still have my old blurple mars hydro reflector 48 ( An interesting fact, it was LG led who supplied these LED panels before mars hydro and there was no mars hydro inscription on them ) . It's a tiny panel compared to today's technology, but it's still capable of growing a single, beautiful plant of incredible quality, it's always amazed me.

Wouldn't the newer leds 100 watt off of ebay, like Spider Farmer SF1000, Samsung LM301H EVO Led Grow Light, Full Spectrum Plant Grow Light, Dimmable & High Efficiency & Deeper Penetration Lamps for Seed Starting Vegetables Bloom in 2x2/3x3 Grow Tent. Would be excellent choices... I have two of these running over 2 giant sequoia trees, 2 Coastal redwood trees and 2 Dawn redwood trees that I'm looking to bonsai. What you save from extra heat and light qualities makes up in the efficacy of the light mentioned.

Had the biggest version of that Mars square box. Grew some bangers with it and it lasted a good while before the diodes started to go. I still have my original progrow 360, company isn’t around anymore or was bought, one of the first lights with the toggle bloom and veg spectrums that you’d ultimately use collectively as “full spectrum” when flowering. It’s a tank of a light and still works well to this day, I still use it to veg or as supplemental lighting at times, the only thing really wrong with it is it’s just not super energy efficient and it’s a bit loud like you’re doing some home renovations but it’s still works great, grabbed that back in 2012.

I have Mars 162W from around same time. Steel case same except painted 'metalic silver'. Just 1 fan on top. Labels read 'Mars proII epistar 80'. Underneath are 2x panels, each panel containing 8 'clusters' with conical reflectors. Each cluster has 5 leds, in type ratio of 3/1/1 per cluster. Anyway, only ever used it for few weeks here and there as temp/extra....was never impessed with growth rates under. Hey its almost brand new- could ship it to you test if ya want, only down the road ;)

I was one of those early adopters of the blurple lights and it was a huge disappointment . Mine was a "450w" light from aliexpress that barely drew 180w from the wallsocket and produced more heat than a 400w HPS. Used it for one grow and never again. went straight back to HPS. Took me until a couple of weeks ago to give LED a second try, got a Mars hydro FC 3000-EVO. So far it looks promising and an actual improvement over a 600w HPS.

Umm...leds have been a thing since 2005. Saltwater aquarium guys were testing them in 05. My local store was testing it on a clam tank and the class were doing well after months. If you don't know, clams need lots of lights so since it worked for class it was good enough for weed. I bought a light, it was generic and costed I believe $600 out the door, maybe 5. I grew big buds with them. It worked as well as my 400w hps but I switched back to hids.

Looks like someone really took the liberty to change out the fans, I guarantee you the unit was much louder when it was made, I highly doubt Mars would have used Corsair fans which is usually a brand associated with custom PCs and would be fans bought separately on their own. These fans would also command a high price relative to generic fans befitting a low-cost fixture Still blows my mind just how many companies got away with trying to claim any type of efficiency. If only the tools for measuring this stuff were more available at a better price.
