I had this happen on my RX-V677. THANK YOU for putting this video together. It saved me a ton of grief! I didn't use the solder method on the contacts, rather I just shorted them out with a wire connector. It only needs to be shorted at power-on, and then can be removed.

I have an rx-v671 that is error coding 0200 no sound. It happened after I did a firmware update. It did something to the amp. Do you happen to know a way I can fix it? I’m very sad it happened I love the receiver. I’m pretty for certain it was the update. I tried to redo it and the same error came up after about 5 minutes. I factory reset it and still nothing. It doesn’t register the speakers at all. It’s not the ear phone plug either. Any suggestions would be awesome! Have a great day!!

For those of you who have a Yamaha RX V475 model, you don't actually need to open it up if you're getting the "Internal Error" message. This is what I did: 1. Power Off 2. Hold "Info" and "Tone Control" buttons while powering it back on (for other models you may need to hold Straight and Tone Control, but for the V475 its the Info) 3. Navigate the menu using the "BD DVD" and "TV" buttons (to navigate sub-menus you use the "NET" and "RADIO" buttons) 4. Find the the menu that shows "SW: PCB" (this is menu item S5-1), when on it, click the "STRAIGHT" button to change it to "SW: MODEL" (this puts it in the mode to change the programmed model) 5. Press the "NET" button to select the sub-menu 6. In the sub-menu, press the "STRAIGHT" button until you see the correct model number 7. Once the correct one is visible, press "NET" again to return to the main menu (you should see "SW: MODEL" on the display at this point) 8. Press "STRAIGHT" again to change it back to "SW: PCB" 9. Turn off unit then back on - Unit should function properly Although the service manual can be cryptic, you can find instructions on this procedure in there as well: www.manualslib.com/download/1244112/Yamaha-Rx-V475.html I haven't tried this fix on any other models but its most likely very similar (only difference being which buttons you must press) Hope this helps someone! Cheers!

@WeRepair Жыл бұрын

@martyflickinger Жыл бұрын
I have a RX-V385 with the same problem as you. I've done some investigation and here's what I found. The R896 jumper on the RX-V673 effectively grounds the "MODE" input. This is usually pulled up "high" to 3.3V unless R896 short is present, which makes the input "LOW". You are correct, on the RX-V385 there is no such jumper. Instead, this MODE input is conveniently available on a factory test connector labeled CB29. This is a little white connector at the back of the board just next to the HDMI 4 connector. The pins on this connector are labeled: 1=3.3V, 2=DGRD, 3=RXD, 4=TXD, 5=MODE. So the equivalent for RX-V385 should be to short pin 2 and pin 5 of this connector (which will pull MODE input low). Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to do anything, it still just says "Internal Error". The other pins on that connector appear to be an RS-232 serial port, but so far I haven't been able to see anything come out those pins. The RX-V385 service manual says on page 1: "When the DIGITAL P.C.B. or IC23 on DIGITAL P.C.B. is replaced, this unit will display “Internal Error” and will not operate properly. The model name, destination and serial number MUST be written to the backup IC to have proper operation. (For detailed procedure, refer to related Service News or Service Bulletin. Or contact your local Yamaha representative.)" I've looked all over (including Elektrotanya.com) for said bulletin but have not found so far

Are you able to select (and save) the model in the settings, like I was able to select the "Dest" (destination) in mine? If so, the model and destination info is probably stored on the same (problem?) chip. As you know, the V373 board is a bit different to the V6xx series and I don't think it has the same chip (circuit?) on it that is jumpered on the V673 etc to fix the problem, although the V373 does have those soldering points. (I'm guessing you have the "internal error" message and "model info" problem). I've asked about this on other AV websites and even Yamaha "experts" were sort of guessing what chip it might be that's corrupted or failed, and won't store the info without standby power. It's a tricky one for sure. Good luck anyway.
@rocman240 Жыл бұрын
@@anml4676 my V383 doesn’t have a “Dest” button or option. It just shows “internal error” on the display and none of the buttons or functions respond in any way. So I am assuming something has to be jumpered to get the system to reset. There just isn’t any information anywhere on how to do it on the V3xx boards. But at this point it doesn’t seem like the problem can be solved without opening the unit up and playing with the circuitry
@anml4676 Жыл бұрын
@@rocman240 Aha. Sorry, I thought you were further into it. You could try the V383 self-diagnosis function to try to find the problem : (Note that "keys" means buttons on the unit) "While pressing the “TONE CONTROL” and “INFO” keys, press the “ ” (power) key to turn on the power, and release those 2 keys. The self-diagnostic function mode is activated." See what appears on the display. (You might have to hold the info and tone control and power buttons for 3 seconds. If so it means the unit was in Protection Mode and you must be extra careful). The service manual is available online if you're interested. BEWARE that messing with the settings could make things worse, so it's up to you. The manual is a bit complicated but it explains the self-diagnosis and settings functions in detail. Again, if in doubt, DON'T. My unit (V-373) just loses its destination setting for some reason when disconnected from mains power (this shows as "DEST ERR" in the self-diagnosis), and fortunately this can be reset in the settings . Maybe you'll be lucky too!
@rocman240 Жыл бұрын
@@anml4676 Unfortunately it appears that I'm not so lucky. I've tried all combinations of the "TONE CONTROL" and "INFO" keys, as well as the "STRAIGHT" key since I saw some mentions to that key elsewhere online. My unit will not stop displaying "INTERNAL ERROR" no matter which keys I press, nor how long I hold down those keys as well as the power key. I've looked at the service manual online, and it doesn't appear to have any helpful information for me. I'm afraid at this point my only option would be to bring it to a repair store who would probably charge me more to fix it than I could pay to just get a new unit. Thanks for your suggestions though.
