I ascended my last two 4,000 footers on this trail. Hearing about the trail I got very nervous, but I watched this video and it helped motivate me to do the trail. Thank You very much for the video!

You are welcome. We had questions about the trail, but we are so glad we hiked it. It's a great trail and not as bad as the stories we had heard about it. :)

We did this at least 10 years ago. I loved that pothole rock. Hey, mo geocaches? That's almost a first for you!

Beckie Jani There are 2 Earthcaches one at the Pothole Rocks and One at the summit. Earthcache means there is no actually cache, you just have to prove to the cache owner that you were there by answering questions. We have sent the email already. We did find our 300th cache today though. :)

My wife and I have done this hike a few times and you have captured the essence of the whole hike in 8 minutes very nicely. Very educational as well. Great job!

Love that trail! A lot of scrambly, ledgey fun crammed into 2.5 miles. Both times I've been on Mt. Jefferson, though, it was bright sunshine with barely any clouds! Oh well, can't win 'em all, I guess.

That was great, thanks for sharing! I am a "newbie" - just getting into the good hiking, and just starting the 48 (I've only done Mooselilauke & Osceola so far), but Jefferson (from your video) looks amazing! Already looking forward to it! :)

Tara Kelley You're welcome. We have all the 48 on video. We another 18 of the mountains on video twice as we were doing them with our youngest dog. We will be taking her back out soon. Feel free to ask us questions on any of the mountains. It's an amazing journey! :)

Hiking this Saturday! Those Caps look so intimidating. This is my first 4000 footer. I don’t have great upper body strength but am in decent shape. I’ve heard they look worse than they are. To me it looks like nothing short of rock climbing. LOL! Any tips for a successful hike? Your video is great! I have watched it multiple times.

We felt the same way about this hike before we did it. We remember being there and thinking how are we going to make it up and back down, because the Caps looked so intimidating. In all honestly, for us, it wasn't bad at all and we really enjoyed the hike. You know your own strengths though, you can always turn around if it gets too tough.. Our 1st 4000 footer was Cannon and 3 days later we hiked Washington, that week pretty much did us in. LOL Good Luck! Let us know how it goes.😃

Thanks, it's a great hike and a short hike too. Time wise I can't tell you because we stop and shoot so much video and picture, that it takes us a lot longer than most people take. Weekend looks nice, so I'd head up early myself.

Enjoy it! Don't let the caps fool you either, they only look challenging. I remember looking at those people go up and thinking, how am I going to make that. Once we got up, I remember thinking, how am I getting back downs those! LOL They were a lot of fun, we are looking forward to hike that trail again some time.

WeRmudfun just got back. Unfortunately Jefferson Notch road was locked and gated shut. But we made the most of it and hiked up to Mount Eisenhower and Franklin instead! 2 new ones I'd never done before either! At some point this summer I definitely want to do Jefferson and on the same day maybe hit the Summit of Washington as well. I'm trying to get the presidential range checked off my list this summer, culminating with a multi day hike on Mount Adams hopefully!

Too bad about Jefferson, but a nice plan B! :) Are you doing the NH48 list? We finished it back in 2012. We are working on the NE67 now. It been a few years since we hiked Washington, but are hoping to get back up there again this year. :) Congrats on the 2 new ones!!!!

My husband, my Daughter and myself are planning on hiking Jefferson this weekend, going on the same trail, looks pretty intimidating to me, not on the way up but on the way down, did you go down Caps Ridge Trail as well?

Great filming and overall description! I've done this 3 times before and it is that gorgeous.Really not too hard coming down either. It seems like it will be tough as you are going up it, but on way back down it is easier and not as scary as one would think. I did make the mistake once of going down the Castles and then taking the Link back across to the Caps Ridge trail. Castles were awesome, but the Link is a festering pile of shite. Horrible footing, big roots, holes, etc. Tiring! Just go back down the Caps!

WeRmudfun Good to hear! Really have enjoyed all of your 4,000 footer videos. I always check them out prior to embarking on hikes so I can get an idea at what I'm looking at. They've been a huge help to me as I continue onwards and upwards to the coveted 48. Hope to have 33 in by mid October and plan to finish the remaining 15 by mid August next summer. Thanks for the excellent work you folks do on the hikes and the videos..
