Herzog and Fricke used to paly football after an argument about soundtracks, they played in a very violent way, Herzog insist about "read, read" and Fricke about "meditation".

This was possibly the most interesting Herzog interview; his use of music. His use of music is phenomenal, but the interviewer doesn't delve into anything! There's no relation between music and emotion in reference to the characters. Herzog's use of music is sublime but the interviewer just fires out "Tell me about... " time after time. Not one mention of Richard Thompson's work in Grizzly Man, the only reference to Guesaldo is brought up by himself.... Interviewer not up to the sans level as his guest.

Bird of Paradise: the naming of birds living mainly in New Guinea and neighboring islands. They are noted for their beauty and splendor of their plumage, but in all areas very much like the crow family. They are rather small bids. The beauty only belongs to the male birds, and only to them when they are vrown. They are active and feed mainly on insects, though one feeds on the nector of flowers. The largest great bird of paradise is the largest kind, measuring a foot and a half in length. From beneath the wings of the males, there springs on each side a rich tuft of long plumes, sometimes two feet long. These colors are so gorgeous, varying from golden red to blackest violet. Their note is large and shrill. The lesser bird of paradise is smaller and is much used for the ladies' head dresses . The two middle feathers of the red bird of paradise are lengthened into stiff black bands about twenty-two inches long, and those of the king bird of paradise into two wire-like shafts and six inches long, with round green disks at the ends. The magnificent blue tail of paradise of the long-tailed is about two feet long. These beautiful birds form quite an aticle of trade where they once were abound. They were not very well known until the voyage of A.K. Wallace in 1857, but many fables have been told about them, and they have been sacred with some nations. Thank you, Werner Hertzog, for your artistry. 🙏❤️🌏🌿🕊🎵🎶🎵

So bizarre listening to Werner Herzog speak about Popol Vuh & Florian Fricke. I was a teen and got heavily into Krautrock in the early 70’s.
@Vingul4 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's so bizarre considering Fricke/Vuh scored so many of his best films... I'm a big fan of krautrock myself tho, havent watched this yet but hoping to hear Herzog namedrop other german acts of the time. Love Can, Neu!, Kraftwerk, Faust, Harmonia etc etc

Werner the visionary can't see why we can, will and must go to mars. Still love him!

He analogized going to Mars like locusts sweeping the earth and leaving for the next. A philisophical perspective indeed, however he did say to Musk in person that he wants to go to Mars to make a documentary.

Because it is. Perhaps not for the artist in question, but for the benefit of posterity and progeny. If artists worked solely in the interest of immediate recognition and praise, ambitious work would rarely see the light of day. Artists would become people-pleasers and their art would be reflective of such an ideal.
