I was just wondering is the stator incased in oil or is it in a dry section ?

So that was the new stator you put in 6 months previous to this? ... Do you think it was a poor quality stator? Installation error? Or something else?

@@a.b1266 The stator screws come loose; it was our fault of not torquing them and not putting a blue lock tite.

I've replaced my stator. That seems to have solved some of the problem. The battery will charge after I start the bike and for the first few minutes. Then the voltage drops to 12 volts and stays there even when I'm revving. Then when I shut the bike off the battery seems to gain another .5 or .7 volts after the bikes off. My rectifier tests across the terminals at 470. Yours tested in the 600s. Does this mean my rectifier is bad even tho I am getting a reading?

It could be the rectifier. In my case, it was the Stator, but if it is a rectifier, it is an easy job.

@weron021 Update: So the rectifier fixed the problem. What I found is the rectifier tested fine with the voltmeter. Once it was on the bike and both the rectifier and the engine were cold I would start the bike and the rectifier would work OK for 2 or 3 minutes and my battery voltage would go to 13 volts or so but, once everything warmed up that's when the rectifier would fail and my voltage levels would drop. Hope that helps someone. Thanks again man!
