I have to admit that this is my favorite run of his for Pokemon Gold. I admire how determined he was to beat it and how well he took it when he didn't really beat it. He got so far with it and kudos to him for that because this shit is intense to say the absolute least.

The Jak and Daxter's run from this SGDQ comes to mind. Perfect proof of your point is seen in Werster's banning from GDQs. I think he had some sort of beef with the staff, but he's definitely not the sort of "kid-friendly" type of guy you'd see nowadays running

They do. However they cannot do runs due to the shiny having an extremely long battle cry which literally ends up costing 3 seconds a battle. anywhere from 5-15 minutes in total based on rng

Saw this on my feed, so I immediately watched from start to finish. I loved this run so much! Even if you couldn't beat it on the big stage, you still did an amazing job going through all of this and making it very entertaining for us! Also, I feel for you with Croconaw not obeying you. Yes. After a pokemon faints it brings you to the team screen to select the next one. Because he had more than 6 pokemon, going to this screen would crash the game (which is also why he couldnt heal)

Even though the end of the Gold run was totally distressing, this was one of the coolest things I've seen. Also, it was really neat watching that famous TASing trick done in real-time on Pokemon Yellow, and seeing all sort of different things done with it. Lots of stuff I've never even heard of too, that map distortion glitch was way cool. The RNG was a bit of a dick during Gold though, yeeeesh. Murphy's law came into a play a bunch.

no, it's because they're traded pokemon. in pokemon games (at least the first two gens) traded pokemon are signified by having an id different from your trainer id, which means almost all glitchy pokemon are considered traded b/c the odds of getting your trainer id by chance are miniscule. traded pokemon disobey you (unless you have the badges to control them) but gain boosted exp

Bayleef is the counter to Totodile and totodile doesn't learn Ice fang until like level 20, so razor leaf can easily fuck the run up especially if it crits. So basically it's really difficult because you're more reliant on RNG.
