Ditto, Have a request actually. As a fellow tinkerer, can we get some more in depth upgrade/repair vids, I especially love clean installs Warren does. By far my fav was stealthing the solar wires in the poles. When I saw you were upgrading the solar , I says to myself "Oh I hope he runs the wires clean through the poles, I know it's more effort, but it'll be so Schmexy." Thanks Bud, you did not disappoint!

Hey guys, just found your channel. A mate of mine has a Helia 44 so clearly KZbin has been listening to me. 😂😂 I love your eco friendly and light footprint approach to life. Your positivity is refreshing in a world that focuses on and promotes the negative. If I could give you one word of advice from one yachty to another, when you go up the mast, never rely on a shackle always tie a bowline and always use a second halyard as a safety line. I had my heart in my mouth when you were grinding the top of the mast around the main halyard in this episode. Stay safe guys, enjoy and keep up the positivity it’s bloody awesome.❤

Awesome! Thank you! We get SO many comment about this soft shackle!! HAHA more than anything! So I also have a long history of rock climbing, mountaineering, and also and I worked in the construction field for decades, often needing PPE and fall protection working at heights, and I am not 100% sure what the breaking strength is of that particular soft shackle (I have many on the boat) but its in the TENS OF THOUSANDS OF POUNDS, so I really do not understand what has people so upset about (no you are not alone on this, like I said it seems to bother everyone!) Great job on the video, your content is improving all the time! I, too, have to urge using a second line for safety. Also, if you look at the video at about 8:18, when you first mention the spot of chafed halyard, it's on the standing part of the line, just down from the knot, so that portion of the line may never get pulled into the masthead and over the sheave. As that's your spinnaker halyard, being chafed at that point may be due to contact with the genoa foil or forestay.

Right on, Well first thanks for your concern, this is something that gets more comments than anything else! But rest assured, I have spent my life rock climbing (most in the field never use a second or backup safety line), mountaineering, and working in the construction field which required safety harnesses and being tethered to roofs very often, so rest assured that I am quite versed in the field, and quite comfortably with the gear I use- like that soft shackle, it’s rated to several thousand pounds of strength, and tightens on itself under pressure, so well within the demands of my 165 pound frame! Thanks tho, very appreciated!!

"Roiley" (La Vagabonde) it just Happened for them. Delos... a LOT of hard work and excellent stories. They STILL have the best theme song! Thank you for the sharks and rays. Consider an episode of "slow TV" with just those for 30 or more mins. I would love that and other than capturing the minutes... it shouldn't be too difficult to put together. Thank you. Moorea-Maiao has to be the most gorgeous island on the planet. (That is where this was shot, right?). I follow you guys, and not the other big KZbinrs because somehow your videos feel so intimate. Just you, me, and 31,000 of your other friends. Those numbers should be so much higher because the quality of the videos and the adventures are both top shelf. Chris’s comments are echoed by many of us. So many of your shots have become screen savers for me (don’t worry… just the scenery. None of you. That would just be creepy). Rock on dude and dudette.

I know those boat jobs are long since done, but you might think about replacing phillips head screws with Torx head or even flanged hex so you can get a ratchet on them. Turning a screwdriver in tight spaces is a pain. With the radar, it could also have been a minor corrosion issue (it was hard to tell from the video), but you might want to slap some marine grade dielectric grease on that bad boy next time you're up there. Of course, you may have thought about/done all this already...

Hey Dave GEEAT ideas honestly- I absolutely use the dielectric grease, good call for sure! And the torx is tough- they clearly have better grip but they HAVE TO be 304 or 316 stainless steel and that my friend, is hard to find… unfortunately

But rest assured, I have spent my life rock climbing, mountaineering, and working in the construction field which required safety harnesses and being tethered to roofs very often, so rest assured that I am quite versed in the field, and quite comfortably with the gear I use- like that soft shackle, it’s rated to several thousand pounds of strength, and tightens on itself under pressure, so well within the demands of my 165 pound frame! Thanks tho!

@@WEsail truly love your attitudes and awesome videos. Re the halyard/bosuns chair. I guess most of us armchair admirals just see that there is only one line. One point of failure and all is lost. I personally would love to see a spinnaker halyard as a backup. More hassle and whatknot, [see what I did there? :) ] but a backup that might save your life. Having said that…. you do you, mate…. what you are doing is brilliant and a real joy to watch. My wife and I applauded what you read out as a comment, and we feel the exact same way. Hello. When you're at anchor for so long, what do you do with your black water tank? After about 8 days it should be full. You don't sail an extra 3 nautical miles out to empty it. What are the other sailors doing with smaller tanks? Thank you and take care.

Awesome question, we rarely get that from viewers but always from guests… almost everywhere we have gone, and this includes most everyone we know of, does not adhere to the three miles out rule… now, this may seem pretty disgusting, and it definitely did seem that way to us at first, but really it’s a drop in the bucket, for MOST anchorages… most places, especially where we have been the last year, has SO MUCH natural flow from tides that once you flush, you never see it again. that being said, there are some really tight, small anchorages that you just can’t operate like that and we close everything down, but otherwise it’s right into the ocean… thanks for asking

Loved your personal message, and wondering how you've been able to develop your life. You also mentioned that it's probably an unanswerable question. Allow me to take a shot at an answer.....from my experience, as success leaves clues. . You both have an appreciation for the same dream. Don't know how, or if it was simultaneous, yet it is a 5% level. Perhaps you had a few breaks, however, I call it blessings as you both seem pure in intentions, especially with others [that is a condition for blessing]. A 5% level. Everyone has obstacles, yet you both discuss, share ideas, come to a conclusion and make a decision. A 5% level. I could go on painting my picture, yet this is about answering the question posed by you. . To finalize, you both communicate about issues, not at each other, whether good or not so good issues. It is always the issue, not each other. A 5% level. Bottom line, many, perhaps all, are presented with ideas / opportunities all the time. 5% people see the idea / opportunity, and ........... [most importantly] ................. TAKE ACTION ‼️ ‼️ You both are a great example to the 10% levelers that need just a bit of leadership. . ❤😊 ✨🌊💨⛵️🏝👙🌞✨ See you next week ✌🏻️ Love you guys.

Hey Warren, please bud, don't ever go up the mast again with that soft shackle in your line. As an ex-climber we weren't even allowed to join an organized climb if you didn't have all locking gate carabiners, and now auto locks. Being out in the south pacific away from any immediate medical attention, pleas get yourself some auto lock carabiners and a second line with a belay device. Might cost you a 100-200, but it's better than being dead or paralyzed for the rest of your life. Take care, and great job on the quality vidoe production.

@@WEsail Thanks as well. You're absolutely welcome. The radiation is just the same as it's used for medical X-rays. But probably even a bit stronger. That's another reason why a radar should should not be mounted on a antenna arch aft of the cockpit. With the 15 degrees down most accommodation lies in the field. Apart from that the range also becomes better when it's mounted in the mast like yours.
