Awesome looking boots. I've got a similar looking pair in Horween Natural Essex; they're one of my favourite pairs. Decent discount too. $400 isn't much more than a pair of Red Wings; that's a lot of boot for the money.

The mr Lou’s normally come in the mp1339 last that people say run narrow. These are the mp95 that people say run wide.

I have tried quite a few Wesco boots. Am a true 12D. Their Mr. Lou fit good in an 11.5E but can wear the 12D as well. Love the Mr. Lou. Their Jobmaster boots in different variations fit me true to size in a 12D. The Hendrik boots I bought in 11.5D were way too long. They were much longer than any other boots I owned. Tried them in an 11D which fit but the lower toe cap sat right on top of my big toes. Very uncomfortable boots that never broke in for me.

B grades from Grant Stone would eat these for breakfast in terms of quality control. Especially at this high price point. As for stiching quality - these guys should learn from the likes of Grant Stone and the Indonesian makers what high quality clean finishes are all about - at 50 percent or less of the asking price for these Wescos.

Just depends on what you want to buy. I have many Grant Stone boots and they are great for an upscale boot, Not the rough and tumble boots many like. Have tried some other boots from Asia but never kept them. There was always something I did not like about them from the leather, stitching, or other things. I do like some Japanese boots. Have some Lofgren boots that are good and a couple other Japanese companies engineer boots that are nice. I would not compare a Grant Stone boot to a PNW boot. Totally different species. GS is comparable to say an Alden or similar type boot. In that comparison, GS is heads and shoulders above in quality and materials.

I agree. They seem to have serious stitching issues. Seen it on a ton of boots in KZbin videos and on eBay sales. They seem even worse than Whites when it comes to QC. This pair of boots is a mess. At least they recognized it and made them Seconds.

wesco uses celastic in the heels and toes of their boots instead of leather..therefore they are in the league below other PNW makers

They use Stytherm, not Celastic. Wesco used to use leather, but they didn't like that it loses its shape easily when subjected to repeated wet/ dry cycles (at the time, they predominantly made logger boots). According to Wesco, they experimented with chemically treated leather, before settling on Stytherm. Also according to Wesco, they'll still build you a pair with leather stiffeners if you ask for it, but try to steer people away because the Stytherm holds up better.

@@TobiasRieperGood I've got PNW boots with leather counters from the likes of White's and Viberg too. If a 4mm thick piece of leather sandwiched between the outside of the shaft and the external heel counter is supposed to 'take the shape' of any part of my foot, I'm obviously doing something wrong; because none of them have budged a millimetre over years of wear. You're probably only going to notice the benefits of Stytherm if you're regularly getting your boots soaked; otherwise leather and Stytherm are totally indistinguishable to the wearer. But if Wesco wants to include Stytherm as standard, despite the additional cost and manufacturing complexity, I'm not going to argue. My experience of PNW boots is apparently the opposite of yours; I like them *because* they hold their shape over years of abuse.
