I recently heard about a great new initiative being run by the Department of Commerce in Taiwan. The Department of Commerce of the Ministry of Economic Affairs has for the past three years been a driving force behind a bilingualization project to make local businesses in Taiwan English-friendly. They have been going around Taiwan and training shops and restaurants how to use English, and also helping them create English friendly menus. I had a few days, so I decided to do a 36 hour Huan Dao, stopping in 4 different cities in order to see how this program is going. I met some amazing people, and had incredible food and cultural experiences along the way.

你在嘉義我再猜你一定要搭高鐵回高雄才趕得七點多回到高雄，真棒在台灣環島一圈旅遊，拍的視頻很很好看，台灣各地有很多的美食，台灣人讀到大學都有學英文，語言溝通應該不是問題，台灣的交通很快速，有高鐵和台鐵，台北，台中，高雄，都有捷運也方便

Nice one, Wes. So many good memories brought up by this video. Done pretty much all the train rides in this video on separate occasions - you got a newer train than me on the way from Kaohsiung to Taitung and onwards to Taipei, though. Nice to see the often lengthy wait between MRT trains in Kaohsiung did not thwart your plans and you made within 36 hours. And then finishing it all up in front of that painted mock-up extension of Kaohsiung's new station hall, priceless. And on another note: While Taiwan is promoting English as an additional language, that bully over the TW Straight is cutting down on private education and English as a school subject. Decoupling meets corral.

This is an amazing journey! I'm not sure if we can do that as we like seeing around for longer time....Pasta is my favorite so looking at the beautiful presentation of it made me hungry, the pan-fried pie w minced meat and scallion looks very delicious too.The shortbread cookies, Taiwanese style will be worth trying for sure.

7:08 looks like your train went via coast line, years ago(circa 2004) I still remember there was an express train that only ran on Fr/Sat/Sun, it used very traditional and simple non air condition old local train carriages and charge only local train fare, but the running time is just as quick as more expensive air condition express train! so for many, that was a bargain train! it was a nice feeling to ride non air condition train and enjoy sea breeze along coast line
