Always glad to see more Chaos lore! I love the character of Ctesias from the Ahriman books. He is one of the greatest daemonologists we have ever seen in 40k. He's a cynical bastard with no romantic illusions about the nature of Chaos or daemons, viewing them as tools to be used and regarded with a healthy degree of caution. He has hundreds of daemons bound to his service through true-naming, including beingss as powerful as a greater daemon of Nurgle (despite himself ostensibly being a servant of Tzeentch). He is one of Ahriman's most important assets, and a great exhibit of both the power and the dangers of daemonology.

Its a great read and highly applicable to any ttRPG game where such things happen (as was the book's intention). Its a great book otherwise too. In as far as it goes, I suspect that, given the nature of humanity, the Warp is probably _always_ in turmoil anywhere a large population of humans physically/spiritually are. I imagine the _actual majority_ of the Warp is peaceful like an ocean, but with roiling storms anyplace humans and other races that can affect it are on the Material side. Those "peaceful" areas would be where Good and/or Lawful deities might be born and found; so holding with what you laid out here, a "good" sorcerer located in an unsullied place, surrounded by acts and symbols of love and law might be able to contact deities and powers that might be closer to Angels. The symbols of the God Emperor and Imperium probably _would not work for this_ considering how much fear and hate they might generate in even a loyal citizen. The paranoia would just screw the ritual over. Additionally, if the beings summoned _were not_ entities of Love/Compassion, but instead something like the opposite of Chaos Gods... Gods of Absolute Law; the summoner might find themselves just as fucked. An Angel of Time might lock them in an endless time loop for the affront of "aging in their presence"; an Icon of Physical Law might freeze them all with Absolute Zero freezing temperatures just for being imperfect physical specimens of their species; while an Archon of The Word might put the screws to them for misspoken parts of the summoning ritual. Iirc, some of the original WH Fantasy ttRPG books had exactly this in them, so it would be fun to have something correspondingly happen in 40k. Never going to happen though, so just more stuff to go on the Weirdhammer Wiki, lol!

I just finished this video. The idea of the warp actually possibly being peaceful in the early years of the Warhammer universe is something I think is just true, like for example the old ones didn't fight at all until the necrontyr said purge the old ones with the power of the c'tan. That war has to have had massive consequences in the warp. Have a good rest of your day and keep up the good work librarian, it really helps my work. (I only added that last part because your Job is basically being a librarian for the Black Library, I would love to go there but I don't know if I would ever actually leave because I love knowledge (even tho I don't have a car or live in Hollywood).
