James - Thank you for the kind words regarding the label and our output. We are sorry you we're disappointed with our selection at the Light In The Attic Record Shop. We only carry what is currently in print, which is what you saw when you visited us. I think the common misconception is that the brick and mortar stocks everything that is on the website, which unfortunately we simply cannot do nor do we have the space to accommodate that many records. Another is that we will have rare items, out of print releases, etc. Lastly, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that we actually had 3 copies in stock of the Native North America boxed set in our boxed set section. We love Royal Records and are so glad you were able to visit them on your trip.

Thanks Brad - I totally get it - it probably more comes from a place or ignorance/expectation on my part without doing proper research! Appreciate you watching for sure. Again / the label really has changed my listening in a big way so thank you for that.

What a fun trip James! Sorry you had no luck at LITA. Their shop used to be located in the commercial/industrial district of Ballard, which has many breweries, including one directly across the street from their former location. So, at least you could have had a satisfying beer following your disappointing visit to LITA! Fun fact, Royal Records used to be the space for a long standing bicycle shop, Counterbalance Bicycles. Sounders had a good run for 5-6 years, winning trophies, until last season. This season is looking pretty dire as well. You, unfortunately, caught a match during a low point for them. The supporters band was the idea of minority owner, and comedian/game show host, Drew Carey. Another fun fact. Cheers James!

Happy to hear you had a nice trip James. Sounds amazing. Side note. Looks like a really cool Tribe poster. Vancouver is tough for digging. I have done most of the stores and pretty meh. There is one that is so ridiculously expensive. Can’t remember if it’s one of the ones you showed. Will watch the rest of this another time.

i was going to reach out the day you posted this to ask if you'd do a trip video, perfect timing. very interesting notes on mls football--i tnink you nailed it, it's very entertaining and very much it's own thing though the footage you showed was pretty low key compared to what you see at the L.A. FC games. look forward to the next installment!

If I go to another country my expectation is not that I'm getting grails, it's that I'm getting commons that are uncommon where I live. Grails that are ultra-local tend to get quickly re-absorbed into that local community, which was pretty much the explanation I got from a record store owner when I was in Amsterdam a few months back asking about early 80s Dutch punk 45s. I didn't know the Broken Social Scene record; it's not a band that's ever been on my radar to check out, but I sampled a bit of the record and it isn't bad at all but perhaps a bit softer than I generally gravitate toward. I'll listen a bit more. Your LITA and Sub Pop store experiences sound like the experience I had a bunch o years ago visiting the Third Man Records store in Detroit. It was t-shirts and baubles mostly, and not much in the way of records other than back-catalog stuff that didn't sell well otherwise. I used to be a Portland Timbers season-ticket holder, and the Flounders are the arch-enemy of the Timbers. The MLS really is a terrible league. I've been at matches where I've screamed "this is professional soccer, why can't anyone trap the ball?" ... LOL. The meetup was a blast! Still can't shake your "what's your number" question. I've got the same version of that Mission Of Burma record - it is fantastic. I got my copy five or six years ago and it was expensive back then too. Great book that you mentioned, I've got it too. I've got a reissue of Tony Joe White's first album which is wonderful. I've had a a few original copies but they were always too banged up to enjoy. Very interesting haul from Little Axe. Cheers! Tom

Although you won't respond, I'll chuck my two cents, not that it's particularly wanted. Some absolute firm favourites of mine here. Broken Social Scene (saw them on that tour at the Corner and met Kevin Drew, very cool), Dennis MPunga, James Tatum, that Mario Rui Silva which to me is absolute perfection and so under the radar, as well as Tony Joe White (also slightly underrated by the snobs, what a voice, what a style) and that Hoyt Axton which I totally love and also bought a while back on Keddy's tip. That Digable Planets is awesome too btw. Nice trip and nice to meet those guys.

@@bigstar1000 I’m fully aware that I am terrible at responding to comments! I think a few people have mentioned it to me. I do read them all . I sometimes ask myself if I am not interacting with the viewers and engaging with the community aspect what’s the point and why do I do this? Maybe I am just making them for myself and my own enjoyment. I don’t really have an answer - it might just be pure laziness (I’m generally pretty bad at that too outside of the VC) anyway - I do appreciate you watching as you know -Very cool about meeting Kevin Drew! - The Rebranded Buttery

Haha Vinyl Records in Vancouver is notorious for over the top high prices! Fun to browse but not to buy. Beat Street is good though - a must stop for the hiphop fans. Never been to Ditch but heard good things about it. That NNA box set was put together by my friend Kevin back when he lived in Vancouver. Awesome trip!

What is the tender moments deal playing in the background? Lol Awesome to see some of the trip here. My brother Russel lived in Ashland Oregon for many years. He worked for Noah’s River Adventures and on the Mountain there. Love that whole area and been out to the coast into Cali from there. Looking forward to the SF finds. Peace.

Looks like a fabulous trip. How'd you get that lot in your suitcase for the journey back? Talk about overweight. I love Tony Joe White, but Stud-spider is not a song of his I particularly like, too stompy. For me Tony Joe is at his best when he's playing it slow and groovy, like on High Sheriff of Calhoun Parrish. Now that's the stand out track on that album. Sort your life out, James 😉 Glad you like Hoyt Axton, his albums are completely overlooked. There's treasures to be discovered there. Cheers - Hedley
