Hey Capt - great video....on the porthole window. Check the screws - Our Bertram had a window leak and it turned out the factory used two different types of metals - SS screws and aluminum windows.....Pissed me off for a long time! The only way we found out was when we were re-tinting the salon windows and the tint company told us....they changed the screws, cleaned it up and no leaks anymore! Its worth a try!

Hi Capt, Yes, you are awesome, and so is your wife! ☺.... It makes me sick you are having those water leaks. Ours only leaks through the Lewmar anchor windless hole; and that is a pet-peeve of mine! The windows on the crooked pilot house that are leaking probably should have come with 'self-draining'. The only solution is to either seal them up permanently or come up with a drip pan and hose system to collect the water and direct it to wherever you want it to go. And yes it would have helped if the manufacturer had them installed correctly.

I don't blame you at all for calling out the company for their poor quality issues on your boat. Marine safety is very important and we expect boat manufacturers to build a quality product and stand behind it when things go wrong. Those leaks should not be happening! Through-hull and windows. Not safe at all!
@OutOnTheReef2 ай бұрын
@seapine99 Yes, I agree, captain and especially the Parker corporation. I think they were hurting for money. And they sold the brand to another company, but they still have the North Carolina facility.
@AC89-o9n2 ай бұрын
At this point if you are planning to keep the boat i think it would be better to do your research, get new port hole windows from a known quality brand, do the same with the sliding windows and replace and seal them with the proper sealant instead of patching the issue with silicone. Its not gonna be cheap, it might not be easy, its not gonna be pretty and it sucks that you have to eat it but if done right, it will probably give you peace of mind and help retain the resale value a bit better. It pains me cuz I'm a fan of every and any small pilothouse boat.

@AC89-o9n This is crazy, captain and that will cost so much money.And when I purchase this pilot house , I was so happy thinking that I got a possible quality boat build but everything came coaching cap. Yeah yeah, we hear about redundancy all the time. Fact is two engines, double the maintenance, lower fuel efficiency and more weight compared to a single of same HP. Not everyone can afford a twin set-up and not all boat manufacturers offer it on their boats. I just make sure I keep my single rig in tip top condition. Oh, and make sure it’s a Japanese outboard, none of that American garbage. Twice I’ve been towed and both occasions it was Mercruiser junk.
