I was at the final game of the season 9.5.87. That day West Ham fans were out of this world, they applauded the city fans all the way to the station. I thought we were in for a battle and to be fair we were ready for it but the hammers fans lined the streets to salute us . We just were relegated but its still my best ever away day. As a ST holder I disagree. Whilst the old Upton Park was a great watch as you were so close to the pitch, the ground and especially the area around it was a dire shithole. Much prefer drinks and food by the canal before the game, being able to get a beer at half time and actually bring to use the toile now… than the derelict pubs, greasy spoons and terrible over crowding at Upton Park
