Have we seen a better batsman than vivian richards? The answer is no, a unique batsman in world history and batsman of the highest order, no doubt about it, a cheer delight is to see him, a powerful batsman and a powerful personality, he is a batsman of different level, thanks for the video.

Whenever Vishwanath got out, he would never look at the umpire or wait for the umpire's decision. He would just walk back to the pavilion - just the way he did in this video. He is one player who demonstrated what ethics & honesty meant.

But, in a Ranji Trophy Match in Madras against Tamil Nadu in 1977-78, he didn't leave the field when the Umpire erred in not giving him Out (Caught Behind) which was also reported in the Sports Star and Sports World Magazine then.

What a series ! We learnt playing cricket (I was 12) just a year before. Watching our elders discussing cricket in awe. Hearing commentary which was not quite understood fully. Yet scissoring the score card from the newspapers next day and sharing them with friends was a great pastime. First time to see the pics of fearsome Windies cricketers in the Cricket quarterly - only three copies were available in our small town. Viswanath's scintillating 139 in the Calcutta test was a national event. True he was our pride and a true icon. Snippets of this test match were shown in the Indian news review , before the movie. One theatre in our place used to allow some college going youth to watch it and then leave. In later years we realized it was a great series.

Thanks for another great video! Venkat was India's captain in this test but 12th man in the next - the only time such a thing happened in the history of test cricket. Parthasarathy Sharma showed great promise in his test debut here but did not achieve much in his subsequent tests.

In the next test ie the 3rd test in EDEN GARDENS, Calcutta, the 12th man for India was Eknath Solker. As a replacement for P S Sharma, Solker did field on the 5th and 4th days.

I understand your point. However, Viv Richards has made hundreds against almost all of the best bowlers of his era including his own West Indian bowlers. Viv Richards v Indian bowlers of his era: Viv Richards has scored 4 hundreds in matches that Kapil Dev played against him. Viv Richards v Bedi = 4 hundreds. Viv Richards v Prasanna = 2 hundreds. Viv Richards v Chandrasekhar = 3 hundreds. Viv Richards has also scored a hundred when Dilip Doshi played against him.

As things stood, Bedi (who was excluded from the first test on disciplinary grounds) had to be accomodated on his home ground because of agitating fans chanting Bedi nahin to test nahin. Venkatraghvan, being the captain had to play. Only one out of Prasanna and Chandra could be accomodated so Chandra (junior to Prasanna) missed out. It was Chandra who had troubled Viv Richards in the previous match and dismissed him cheaply in both innings. In the absence of Chandra, Viv Richards had a field day. He capitalised fully scoring 192 and his career was launched.

See, now I had to check the series results after watching this. Seems to have been a good series. Five tests, all with results, WI win 3-2 coming down to the last match. If it wasn’t for this 192 Viv might well have been dropped and given our politics back then, they probably wouldn’t have picked him again.

Ferrari Bugatti Rolls-Royce BMW Mercedes of Batting. Got gifted Amazing Reflexes Phenomenal Awesome Super Duper Mesmerizing skills Animal instincts Arrogance.The Undisputed King of Cricket. The Chewing Gum , the walk the swag, the style the class. Till today and never ever will there be a player who will dominate worlds best fearsome bowlers the way he destroyed murdered them especially the best bowlers of the world who were given great respect and treatment. Playing with modern bats solid protective gears sophisticated protection gadgets refined pitches and then playing without helmets protective gears uncured rough uneven pitches its like earth and sky distance. I have played season cricket myself and I know exactly what it means. No current stars of today and batsmen since cricket began who are breaking records in runs can even dare to do what these players have achieved in those times and years which have passed by. It needs a lot of bravery courage brilliance fearless approach determination and infinite aggression. The only other best example would be Mike Tyson intimidating animal instincts destroying the oppositions causing terror fear in them. No limitations of bouncers and yet walk with that chewing gum , the style the swagger, the arrogance, destroy bowlers all around the world anywhere any location any time..that's my and my fathers favorite Sir Viv Richards . The game changed to the 5th Gear the moment Viv started just walking to the batting crease. it was game on very intimidating for all bowlers and fielders especially the best bowler they had and fielders if they may miss drop his catch ....I am here to destroy you all show me what you have got to the bowlers and opposition. We always prayed that Greenidge or Haynes get out quickly as We enjoyed Viv destroy bowling like T20 about 30-35 years back unbelievable batting hitting cleanly & yet very stylish absolutely brilliant and stunning a treat to watch. If anyone has not seen Viv Richards destroy oppositions and the most feared bowlers of the world then I am very sorry to tell you that you have not seen the best ever possible batting in cricket.The moment Viv came to bat the game changed to fastest gear open challenge to bowlers I'm going to go after you all especially the best bowler of the team. fearless aggressive. Remember always when you talk discuss records compare with protective gears helmets power bats and so on the latest sophisticated equipment gadgets the limitations of bouncers by bowlers and without all of the above. No current batsmen will dare to do what Richards did to play without sophisticated helmets protective gears on uncovered highly lethal dangerous uneven pitches ,fearless dangerous very aggressive instincts without helmets protective gears and no limitations of bouncers Huge difference to play with and without protective gears and unlimited bouncers short pitched bowling. The game changed to the topmost gear the moment Viv Richards stepped on to the ground his entry itself was sufficient, his chewing gum, his swag his style his walk, taking guard was very intimidating it said to the opposition I am here now show me what you got and I am here to destroy you all especially the best bowler of your team nowadays batsmen attack identity weak bowlers Viv attacked destroyed every teams most fearsome bowlers. I always wanted Greenidge or Haynes to get out quickly as I loved to watch Viv enter and murder hammer blast destroy the best bowlers of the era

He was a slow mover in the field. Venkatraghavan a better spinner and a fantastic fielder and a very effective batsman had to always sit out. Quality machwinning spinners like shivalkar v v kumar never got a chance to play intl. Cricket. All because bedi was the favourite of the board.

Spin was of inferior quality those days !!!!! Because the legendary quartet of 4 Indian spinners and the great Lance Gibbs bowled slowly !!!!!! I am stunned by your perception that even spinners have to be quick . BTW , Chandrashekhar would bowl pretty quickly , with an unorthodox way of bowling.
@rgudduu
@rgudduu Жыл бұрын
@@rajatshubhrosengupta284 , my perception is this: a spinner's gets turn. A great spinner adds flight, bounce, drift, dip to fool the batsman. But the ball speed has to be quick enough (>70-75kmph). If it's too slow, then the batsman gets time to react off the pitch, even if he was fooled by the spinner's guile.
