The off-road Tamsin Trail in Richmond Park is much nicer and more fun than sticking to the tarmac, definitely.

Thanks for visiting my local area. There are some wonderful cycling gems in London, but you have to look for them. Wimbledon is definitely the best place for some off road spice - in the strong summer heat, it is much cooler under the trees along those forest paths@ But as you saw, it is very easy to end up on a pedestrian path. If you have time - you should try the superhighways from Hyde Park past Buckingham Palace, to the Houses or Parliament and especially along the river. It is an incredible segregated bicycle lane with gold medal sightseeing. And the very centre of London at the weekend is wonderful on a bicycle - there is virtually no traffic!

Lovely to see a route I take often. It's quite difficult to find good gravel around central London and this part of the Thames path is the best I've found for it.

I cycle in SW Birmingham where I live. I have explored way more of my home city by bike than I ever did by foot or car. Once you get to know the area its amazed me I can cycle to loads of places without ever touching busy roads. If I go due West I can be up on the Waseley Hills with views to Wales on a clear day too. We city dwellers have to make the best we have got, and dream of your scottish rides!

Oh absolutely! I was in Glasgow for 10 years and finding off-road routes was great fun. Make the most of what you have and enjoy the ride. 😁

My local !! I was there the same time prob And yes it’s an awesome route, in London, on the doorstep. You can swing the other way, Richmond to Kington to Hampton court then down to Guildford on path 4.. and that traffic is light down there… try Hyde Park Corner for some mad traffic The cycling route is just parallel to the non cycling on the bit in Wimbledon LOL And the bit where you cant get out to the start… just exit on the gate and cycle up the stars and garters hill.

All great info I'll know for next time. And yes, I've previously been out form Kingston on one of the Sigma rides organised by Hot Chilli - that was lovely riding too.

I commute by bike in and around Wimbledon and Putney through Richmond park. It was very interesting to see your perspective of the routes, particularly the joys of Putney high street 😂 Nice video 👍

Truly! Just though it worth a mention that I recently discovered your channel after getting back into road biking and searching for some product reviews. May I say that your presenting and video quality is extremely professional. I hope that doesn’t sound patronising, you might be a tv presenter for all I know 😂 Anyway top notch content and I look forward to more 👍

3:16 what was the reason you came off the Thames Path and onto the road at this point? You should have been able to carry on through to 3:33 along the path, under normal circumstances. Edit to add: not sure why the Dirty Weekend Komoot route has that deviation either.

Always worth exploring a different area on your bike 👍 Hate to think what London roads are like but off road sections looked interesting. Would be interested to know which handlebar bag you were using - looks nice and neat.

@@alwaysanotheradventure 'fraid so 🙂 You go under Hammersmith Bridge, then cut to coming along The Terrace, just past Barnes Bridge, which is further upstream than Hammy Bridge. More along Lonsdale Road, still upstream of Hammersmith Bridge, then all of a sudden on Putney Embankment, a good mile and a half downstream of Hammy Bridge. Deffo out of order.

yes, my idea of hell riding in suburbia like that...i live in rural county durham...and i always double check the routes i plan on doing as sites like garmin connect and komoot tend to send me places where one is not supposed to cycle.. if you're ever in county durham (weardale area) - then give me a shout..
@alwaysanotheradventure

I know Weardale - nearly bought a house in Stanhope. I’ve been lucky to avoid suburban life, apart from 10 years in Glasgow (which was fun) but feel lucky to live where I do.
