First train west of Danbury Yard in 11 years.
The Next Day after watching the NX10 do some South end Switching. we are back on the Housatonic Railroad this time Behind Agway. where an Extra crew with the 22 is seen with Transformer. a few days later it would be the NX-10's turn to go down to Agway. to pick up the Flat car and bring it back north. Come watch the move of the decade on the Housatonic Railroad

Interesting tape seeing what's left of New England railroading. Here in Wisconsin we don't have too many lines like this they either got ripped out or the states provides funds to keep them in better shape. I was surprised though looking at the car reporting marks that being Lowville and Beaver River which is basically a defunct Short Line in New York state. Yet there is a Midwestern connection in that there is a group of LBR gons and old coal rotaries that frequent the Wisconsin and Southern hauling scrap metal out of Madison WI That single Lane 10'6" bridge is a classic

It’s always good hearing of the LBR. We usually stop in Utica to check out the current operations with MA&N. A lot of that line is abandoned, but both ends still sees traffic.

The Housatonic runs to Berkshire Junction every weekday, which is visible on Riverview Dr in Danbury, it works Oak Ridge 4-5 times a week. it does not go any farther than Oak Ridge often. Only to store Oak Ridge Gondolas in Danbury yard. The only times they go west of the museum is when they receives a Transformer load

I was a fireman on many freights to Maybrook from Ceder Hill before the caught in fire in 1974. I also owned and operated regular freights from Ceder Hill to Selkirk. That was once a well-maintained 40+ MPH track that was that was a pleasure to handle 150 car or more trains over. Unfortunately, there's not much left of it.

@@WeatheredRails According to the abandonment request filed by MNCR last year, that is NOT true. It is MNCR's position that HRRC trackage rights were made null and void when they purchased the ROW from Conrail and that trackage rights were never transferred during that sale. Since Metro-North basically has the feds in their pocket, I dont see HRRC prevailing

Hello my name is Bruce I just found your video site on KZbin this is my favorite site now I like long videos of short rail lines with older power with great scenery . I wish the U.S and Canadian governments would help railways with financial help for track maintenance and bridge work after all its the railways who built north America . After all with the price of fuel these days shipping by rail is better and safer I myself think all the rail companies should get together and petition there local governments for financial help like they like they did for roads if all the railroad company's got together then the government would see they mean business . There should be tax breaks funding for track upgrades ( loans at no interest) most short lines are cannot afford the cost of rebuilding track and bridges and the rebuilding of motive power someone or something needs to be done if not short lines will fade into the past we need railways class one and short lines . thanks again for the great videos Bruce
