Just one feedback, we need bigger, product based companies to change the landscape. Infosys, Tcs, Wipro are good but only service based companies will not help much in future. I am trying to bing attention of Debashis Sen through this channel. I wrote to Rohit also about this. Since I have stayed in America for more than 35 years I meet American friends who visit India. If proper Kolkata is cleaned up of trash, ugly banners, foot paths are cleaned and sound pollution is checked on the roads, you will see number of tourists visits will be doubled. Please bring this feed back to Mamata Banerjee's attention. The money generated from tourism will help in cleaning up the City. Make very attractive brochures for tourists spot of Kolkata and West Bengal.

If Americans can tolerate to visit Agra which is comparably small, congested and dirty, just because they want to have the lifetime experience of having visited the Taj Mahal, Kolkata is now fairly clean and green, especially New Town and Salt Lake city under Bidhannagar corporation. Remember Kolkata is the "City of Joy". Kolkata should be associated with happiness. Many backpackers from the US visit Kolkata and many have left wonderful documentries through their KZbin channels. Americans are visiting Varanasi, which is very dirty notwithstanding initiatives being taken by the honble Prime Minister to spruce it up. I don't think your regressive comment will stop foreigners to visit Kolkata. What Kolkata needs is budget hotels and restaurants as in Kolkat either you have street food or very pricey restarant. Similarly there is lack of decent budget hotels for globe trotters on shoe string budget. What we have in Kolkata are very expensive five star, four star and three star hotels.

What Kolkata missed out in the earlier decades can be properly covered by the strong network of influential Bengalis working all over India and abroad in various sectors of IT & Management, in huge companies. Bengalis are one of the biggest communities in that regard. They should be convinced. Once they are convinced, they can do a great deal of bringing a lot of investment back. Just going out and settling alone isn't enough. (Many of us included)

Mr Debashis Sen has so far did a commendable job and is working relentlessly to put Rajarhat New town on the world map, his name would go down in the annals of history as a great town planner. His intelligence , his sharp intellect, memory above all his honesty and simplicity has endeared everyone. I'm sure as everone of us in Kolkata would like to see the rise of Bengal like the proverbial phoenix did from the ashes. Ever since Hong Kong slipped away from the Brirtish after it was handed over to China, the British once again shifted their focus upon Kolkata, as they want to continue with their trade that once brought them wealth from the East . Kolkata will surely regain its lost glory and Bengalis would once again see the next renaissance in the country. Thanks Rohit awesome video and thanks Debasis Sir we are with you even though I am not Bengali but your vision to make West Bengal, Kolkata, Sector 5 , Bidhannagar, E M Bypass and New town and other areas is visionary I visit Kolkata for work I can clearly see how Kolkata and West Bengal is rapidly developing in the last few years as we know West Bengal was the sleeping giant which has awakened and walking rapidly toward positive growth, West Bengal with nearly 230 billion USD is 6th largest GDP and Kolkata with nearly 160 billion USD is at 3rd largest hopefully the metro line of 140 km will be constructed and become operational soon in a few years( currently 50 km operational) it's going to be second longest after Delhi metro , so many IT, banking , Finance, Insurance, and Data stations will give further boost to the Eastern India economy and West Bengal and Kolkata will grow even faster , Rohit bro do you any updates regarding the Tajpur Port by West Bengal Government and Adani Group that will give further impetus to the growth?- love your videos would really love if you can add some subtitles my bengali friend showed me your video love from Delhi brother

Kolkata recently tops in terms of number of office space acquired. No doubt startups is rapidly rising. Fare in kolkata is one of the cheapest. And more n more coming to kolkata. As from the above conversation it clearly indicating, after Fintech hub and Bengal Silicon Valley is fully operational Kolkata may replace Mumbai or maybe Bengalore too in future, become tech and finance hub.

Nice and very informative series Rohit. Even most of the BFSI giants like JP Morgan, Citi, Amex, Wells Fargo, Credit Suisse, Nomura, ANZ, StanChart, UBS, Deutsche bank, BNP Paribas, Barclasys have their GBS/IT operation hub based in India in BLR/HYD/NCR/Pune, which Kolkata is missing badly. As of now BSV/ Fintech Hub is mostly occupied by Indian companies, which is a great one as first step. But as next step, GoWB needs to arrange more lands for MMC ginants , so that it can become a hub like other developed cities. Areas nearby Kalyani expressway can be the next hub, where easily 300-400 acres can be occupied by Government.

That’s a great reporting … great that he could give so much time to u. But I would have liked something else as well in Newtown… there is too much traffic these days and it will increase even more. Too many signals adding up the time.. just like narkelbagan underpass.. there should be many more underpasses on main signals.. one also at Chinar Park particularly. I had been to Pune and they did this atleast 15yrs back on most parts… why. Was it not implemented at first hand in Newtown?? I would say planning error.. which still can be resolved. Plenty of space yet

Having sbundant skilled labour will definitrly attract more IT vompamied in kolkata. Great work done by Debasish Sen sir but I think when we are comparing thub with mani casadona we should see it in holistic manner. Thub is startup ecosystem enabler giving mentorship, funding support with infrastructure but mani casadona and others in Newtown are not supporting startups in that way just providing infrastructure by rent. So we should think about this problem in holistic manner for start-up ecosystem.

Excellent, this is what Bangalore looked like 35 years ago. The dynamics of the IT industry and associated economics has changed dramatically. Someone should look forward, as to what is economically viable now rather than looking at the rear view mirror trying to mimic the past success story of Bangalore. Ok, Kolkata has missed the IT bus but doing these heavy investments on real estate makes no sense now.
