Westcott's New 800W Flash is an Absolute POWERHOUSE 🤯

I started with Godox years ago and had issues with it. Not that it’s a bad system at all but I didn’t have much in the way of equipment and made the jump to Westcott. They have been absolute workhorses for the last 4 years in my volume business. Glad they finally came out with a V2 of the 400. I’ve never really needed more than 400 in any situation. Not sure I’ll get the 800 anytime soon but will get the 400 v2 when needed. As for brand, people get hung up on this one or that one. At the end of the day, if a certain brand works for you, use it. As long as you’re getting the result you want and it’s reliable, who cares. Same with cameras. Thanks for the video sir. Always enjoyed your photography work, educational content and insight. Looks so much like a Godox. Did they have a hand in this? Would be great if, like Godox, they had a head extension instead of having to mount a heavy light like this on a boom.

nice, is a full speed specification available: e.g. t0.1 and t0.5 values and kelvin color specification for all power levels in normal and freeze mode? Maybe you can test it?

we need a standard for all of these lights, that way we can use one trigger and mix and match our lighting. I know there is a third party trigger but does it work with all brands?

Seems a bit overkill, but I could be wrong here. 800W strobe is pretty wild and I’m sure there are use cases for it, just didn’t seem to be necessary other than what you said about group shots. I’ve dabbled in HSS, but picked up an a9III so yes, that global shutter just makes my ad200pro powerful enough to beat the sun and I’m pretty sure this would light up a whole stadium if I were to use the combo at full power lol. Any thoughts on more use cases would be welcomed. I do love your work and opinions on products, so keep that up. Good work as always man 🤙

There are many uses for an 800w light, its actually not bright enough for alot of the work I do where I usually use 1200w H1200p strobe. Think motion sports, dancing, High speed shots and freezing motion and time with this amount of power. It's also especially good for long throw modifiers like Magnum Reflectors and the like. Honestly I'll take all the power I can get

it's awesome I would prefer to see that type of light as an EXTENSION HEAD with the base on the floor. the $1000 price supports that type of build... then it would look more attractive than the FJ 400ii, they way they have it I would be better to but (2) FJ400ii

FJ800 Looks too big, I could never easily travel with 5 or 6 of those. I think the specs are still better on the Buff Celestial, with it's high efficiency, it puts out more than than a typical 500w/s light without a reflector, freeze times better too.
